I have a theory; call it a conspiracy if you want. All of these dozens of people complaining that they could fly a command ship before the patch but not after... I call BS on that!! (I don't mean battleships) Honestly, they didn't even try to undock, instead they ran to the forums to complain??
Here is what really happened. They donGÇÖt own a command ship and donGÇÖt plan to fly one. They knew about the skill change, knew about the claim that GÇ£if you can fly a ship today you can fly it tomorrowGÇ¥ and figured it was an easy way to get some free skill points. They trained up to the level to inject the Command Ships skill before the patch, expecting that after the patch they would magically have all the Leadership skills now requirement for Command Ships. They see that they donGÇÖt and start complaining. |

No.
I couldnt fly a command ship, and didnt train specifically for free points either.
I did train BC to lvl5 thinking I wouldnt mind flying comand ships down the track, and looked at the training required and found it wasnt unreasonable. I also find BC class quite a good fit for what I do.
Now, I have to train all the diferent branches of the warfare links to fly one. I had no intention of doing this previously. I had a specific purpose in mind for my comand ship that I could have achieved in a quarter of the time it is now going to take.
Im not crying, but im not going to be flying a command ship in the future either, and if that means I lose interest in the game and no longer play, that is also my decision. |

Yes; because I too run to the forums to find sympathetic ears for all of my problems. I don't expect to be endlessly trolled. I expect my player community to be a nanny state in which I am never held accountable for my actions; and the isk flows as freely as my tears.
Has CCP considered changing their corporate slogan to: "If you can fly it before you can fly it now?"

I understand what you're saying but it's not like people were not given enought time to sort this out. Christ I'm like an Osterich in this game and I hardly know anything thats going on but even I knew about this and all of my alts and accounts have been trained in regards to the skill changes.
The sad thing was if you started early it didn;t actually take that much time. It's a bit of hassle for new chaps but meh I've been done over by CCP in the past it's just part of EVE.

Check out some of the new faction battlecruisers. They cost about the same as a command ship (probably will drop in price once the market balances) and should work well if you don't plan to use warefare links. If you do plan to use warfare links then you probably want the new required skills anyway. Just my two cents. |

TLDR - I didn't read the dev blogs nor creep the forums (or my own corpmates) to figure out what this meant.
So, you came into a "god isn't whining about changes that were posted 5 months ago stupid thread," with the intent of whining about said changes?
Bravo.

Or people just do an 'info' on the command ships in the market or in their assets tabs and freak out when they see "Total Training Time : 42d 10h 9m 34s" on the Prerequisites tab. (Which is due to not having the secondary skills requirements met, however, you only need the primary skills in order to fly the ship.)

Anslo wrote:It's just some warefare links people...command ships are supposed to have them anyway :S You also fail at comprehension as does the other person. You do not require a single Warfare Link skill trained for Command Ships. You require the basic buff skills that add 10% Armour/Shield etc to your fleet, to apply no matter what ship you are in any time you are in a squad/wing/fleet commander position. |

Plausible.
Ironically, I wasn't qualified to train Commandships before the patch, but now I am. (The check is in the post, Fozzie)

Could fly all of them before, can fly all of them after.
No problem with ships or skills but people not understanding, or doing like if they don't, how the thing works. CCP gave information about this 1 year before it hit TQ, several months before expansion release did an entire blog and threads about this so no excuse for idiots. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

I understand that confusion; the game is giving misleading information. CCP could remove a lot of confusion by adding some simple logic to the prerq screen to not include time needed for subskills who's primary is already injected. If I look at a Nighthawk prerequisites tab, I am looking to see if I can fly the ship, and if not, how long it will take. Telling me how long it would take to inject a skill that I already have injected is extra and even misleading information.
Having said that...back to my original point. Anyone who was told "if you can fly it now you will be able to fly it then" should try to undock their ship before assuming they can't. Regardless of what information you have, just see if it works. Any reasonable person would do this, we all know Eve isn't the easiest game to figure out, I find it impossible to beleive someone has been playing long enough to have a command ship and not have that slight hint of self sufficiency. Those complaining, I think fall in the category of non-command ship owners I described in the OP. |

What I did expect was that if I trained for and injected the command ships skill prior to the patch (and trained it to 1) I would be able to fly any command ship after the patch. Seeing as CCP intends CS to be more useful in combat roles, I decided that while I don't intend to use them for providing boosts any time soon, I might decide that their combat roles are worth pursuing.
So now I can fly all the CS with very minimal training involved. -áMy (mostly boring) Youtube channel. |

I did the exact same thing, congrats on staying informed!!! I called it nija training. I trained up to the point where I could inject command ships. Could not fly them prior to the patch, but had that skill injected, so after the patch the only other thing I needed was BC to 5 and now I can fly all 8 of them!! |

he has to train warfare link specialist IV and the four warfare skills to V.
the time difference between what he says he has to train (enough to use all warfare links) and what he actually has to train are four rank 5 skills to lvl I - that's like a total of 2.5 hours? |
