its going to go really badly when the enemy targets start to pop into your overview one at a time.
Theoretically it could work, and it could work in some isolated 0.0 place where no one can hear them scream. But after target number 2 - you are either going to have to gtfo or take the express train back to goo.
Solo ECM boats are a pipe dream - if it were possible to pull off reliably, then they will get nurfed. |

Apparantly the Rook can do it quite well, and the Scorpion definitely can do well solo.

Thanks for the input. I shall stick to blaster frigs generally, but I think the 12 (combined > most sensor frig strengths) makes up for its low EHP and low dps. I can't currently get to it, as im banned rom where its stationed atm, will give battle reprts once I get it moved.
PS: I can see it failing too. But I can also see it pwning with its 25dps or so after armor reps + resists lol |

sure, it can be done if you have 15 mins to kill a single target that has no drones. Solo scorps were the rage way back when, but the WCS nurf really ended that one. And the Rook uses its weapons more for point defense then for offense.
Like I said, in theory it can be done, but its never been practical - and - if I were, it would be imba and would be nurfed. |

I'd say the rook weapons are for more than point defense. With its drone bay the rook rivals the cerberus in dps and can still jam the living snot out of a couple targets. Then again how can you get a fight with one with less than a 5v1 situation? Oh well. |

I like the EAFs. Kitsune has very nice jam strength, if not range. The Keres is a nice little tackler. and The Sentinel is one of the best frigates out there. A single Hyena can really screw someone's day when dropped in a gang of larger ships. Their biggest problem is an abysmal lack of dps and less slots for their EWAR mods. I don't think jam strength adds like that. Two modules with a jam strength of 6 don't give a jam strength of 12, but each has a seperate chance with a strength 6 jam so if one fails the second one might still jam.
Others can probably confirm this. |

not quite.
while the sentinel and the kitsune can both be a good addition to a gang (and the sentinel can do it solo), the keres and the hyena aren't really that great.
as a tackler, the keres isn't better than an ares, while said ares is much faster thus more survivable, which trumps out the extra warpjam range that the keres has. sure you can cram damps there, but then again, you're making it even harder to even fly about due to the cap consumption of damps. in addition to all this, the ares is cheaper, which coupled with the above mentioned speed, makes it have a much better return than the keres.
the hyena lost quite a huge amount of its pvp value with the nano nerf. Compounding to that the general flaw of the EAF's which is lack of survivability makes the hyena an easier target than the vigil. An expensive vigil at that.

I agree that survivability is a major issue with EAFs. I was trying to fit out a Hyena the other night and I barely managed to squeeze 3.4k EHP out of it, even with a MSE (which requires an ACR rig and an aux power core). With more EHP a nano-arty Hyena with a 18km web might be viable ... but with so little EHP, even with a MSE, it just doesn't work. |

This isn't no-risk PvP, this is trying to do something different and unusual and see how it works. No-risk PvP is wardecing carebear corps or hotdropping one guy with a fleet. Doing it different is just trying to mix it up and try something new.
Note the difference between "Hey, here's something you don't see every day, I wonder how it'll work" compared to "Haha, now no one can kill me ever again". |

Nicely put mxzf... It's funny cause rarely there is any PVP outside large fleets and in most cases, when a target engages you without having complete superiority (aka Cane vs. rifter), it's 99% a trap for ganking...easy case, a falcon will decloak or logi-alt will rep (some ppl reached #1 in BC KBs with the last one ehm...clear throat)...the large (or ex-large) alliances will routinely hot-drop supers or "simply" bridge 20 man gangs with titans to get single BC kills...
The kitsune could be effective in getting fights, exactly cause it's completely underestimated as a solo boat. I would modify at least rigs, so that I could do without the faction PG upgrade - side-benefit = with a PG rig you can fit a MSE II which provides more tank against anything but EM, and in overall the savings (without navy aux + named MSE) are considerable.

Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Ancillary Current Router I
As of the "no more than one opponent at a time"...well...that's true for most frigates in PVP...unless we are talking noobs in T1 frigates and/or completely out-gunned long-range ceptors that come into scram range, even the best PVP frigs have a hard time to engage multiple targets at the same time. Picking fights and separating the enemy (if he is in a pack) is more than 50% of each successful kill.
I would stick away from Dramiels or Drone frigs in general. Remember you cannot jam drones. Your DPS are enough, and your EHP respectable. T1 frigs should be good pray, and in theory they would carelessly burn to you for an easy kill.
Keep it as cheap as possible, and do not lose faith too soon...be prepared to lose a lot of Kitsunes trying to solo, but that's true in every kind of true solo pvp...
Let the "pro" ppl hot-drop or gank loners. Most of them smach pirates and war-decking corps, but are no better. - you do it your way...and yes, it's the hardest, and most rewarding one. "War does not determine who is right - only who is left." -- Bertrand Russell |
