Aspiring Recruiters:
Thank you for your time.
My name is Tarannus. I am a US-Timezone pilot with stress-induced insomnia, a penchant for self-isolating nervous breakdowns, a voracious appetite for photography, and over 119 million skill points. In game, I have a penchant for lusting over big, shiny, things, gathering lots of toys to use for "fund raising", and blowing up other people's expensive investments.
You may find my current character sheet sheet via Eveboard here.
I prefer to be a team player - a reliable backup or pinch hitter that'll step to the plate when the team needs it, and an ISK-gathering hoarder when not on campaign. If there's a ship or fleet role that you desperately need which I can not currently perform, don't worry. Give me a few weeks and I can train what you need to some degree of competency.
I have some PvP experience, but mostly in fleets above 10 people. In the interest of honesty and fair play, I freely admit that I do not like the prospect of solo or small-gang PvP. I do not consider myself to be very good at it, nor do I feel confident in my abilities as a fleet commander because I have extremely limited experience. The fact that I hate the sound of my own voice doesn't help things either.
For the last eight months I have lived as a self-imposed exile in a corporation of my own design, running missions for a company that owns no stations and gathering loyalty points that can never be cashed in, with little more than an alt and the voices that reside within one's skull for companionship. Frankly, I've become bored with this arrangement, and now look to this channel for inspiration.
If you are interested in recruiting me, I have only one specific caveat: honesty.
I want you to be honest about your corporation. If you are a squatter living out of a small Minmatar POS deep in Insmother four capital jumps away from any marketplace and completely surrounded by reds, I'd like to know about it. If you're a mining corporation that just lost 30 billion in corp assets and personal ships from an officer you completely trusted for the last 2 years, I'd like to hear about it. If your corporation feels like it's dying because recruitment has dried up, you lost a hundred and twenty members due to an activity purge, or you're the verge of being kicked out of an alliance due to poor fleet participation, I'd prefer to be informed about it.
I want you to be honest about your prospects. Are you a small corporation that has every ambition to go into 0.0, but the only offers are alliances from NPC regions? Are you part of a big alliance that has more political intrigue and backbiting than a Frank Herbert novel? Do you have trouble keeping more than 5 people online in corp chat at any given time?
If you are honest with me, I'll be honest with you. Frankly, I'm looking at nearly any corporation that has more than 20 unique members, but would preferably like to be back in non-NPC 0.0 putting my capital assets (and my alt) to use. The type of work done (mining, NPC gathering, PvP) is immaterial, provided that corporation activities do allow enough free time to raise ISK without resorting to spending real world cash.
I'd prefer to be part of a large established alliance in nullsec, but any corp who is honest and forthright will get a fair shake. Wormhole space intrigues me, although my experience there is very rudimentary and would require some guidance.
If there is even the vaguest sense of interest, don't hesitate to reply here in this thread or send me an evemail. If I find the proposal interesting enough, I'll reply and we can begin arranging more personal conversations in the channel or voice program of your choosing.
Once again, I thank you for your time and look forward to all replies.
Sincerely,
Tarannus |

I read your whole post and to be Honest not sure if we are a perfect fit for one another but I say hey give us a couple of weeks and if your dissatisfied no hard feelings. Additionally if you have any reservations about us you can air them though our per-application talks. However with a veteran like yourself I'm sure it will be more of a negotiation. We are apart of an alliance and to my knowledge we are not about to be kicked. We have active members online everyday.

Yes Yes we kill crap to but we have fun while doing it. Additionally someone who has been playing the game is probably looking for a corp with more substance then just how many poorly placed round of ammunition is fired. |

Your last post is correct Otori, I am looking fairly deeply and holistically at all the offers received. Single line replies, even if they are from corporations that come from historically notable alliances, don't stir up too many feelings. Granted this is internet spaceships, but it's as much a social game as well.
I'm a person who hates to move around employment-wise, so I want to make sure that wherever I go will be just as comfortable a year and a half from now as it is a few days after joining. A lack of investment in tracking down and cultivating potential recruits does tend to reflect in the final assessment of a corp's viability, but then I'm extremely picky like that. The opening hello doesn't have to be a wall of text - far from it. A few sentences, and maybe a little self-deprecation, goes a long way.
Thanks to everyone who's replied so far, and I eagerly await more offers before I begin the process of sifting through and making callbacks. |

To everyone who has expressed interest in having me join their corp, thank you. There have been a few interesting offers, but I want to give other corporations a chance to stop on in and drop a line either in this thread or in an evemail.

Hey Tarannus,
I sent you an ingame mail but thought it prudent to leave a quick reply in your thread as well. :)
I'd like the opportunity to have a chat with you ingame, in my opinion being able to actually speak to someone is a much better way to properly introduce myself and my corporation to you.
I'll link you to our recruitment thread so you can review that at your convenience; https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=207772&find=unread
Feel free to contact me either through mail or private convo if you would be interested in learning more about us. Alternatively you are more than welcome to hop into our public recruitment channel; Asteria Recruitment.
I hope we're able to speak to each other soon.
Kind regards,
Cyrane |

Thank you for all of the replies so far. I encourage any and all interested parties to keep sending evemails and placing forum posts. My apologies if you've tried to contact me privately in game and I haven't replied.
I've received a number of very compelling offers, and have been pleasantly surprised with people's assessments of their particular corporations. There are a few proposals that have piqued my interest, but the iron is still in the fire and hasn't taken shape just yet.
The process of winnowing and sifting potential destinations will take a while, and I hope you understand my cautiousness.

You'll fit right in, we have several EU/UK/US/AU pilots.
We are a top line corporation operating out of nullsec. If you take a look at http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=corp&name=Norse%27Storm+Battle+Group you'll see we are active and have a long history :)
We also have carrier and dread programs to assist members into those capital ships they have always wanted.
We are primarily a bunch of UK/EU pilots with several USTZ members all in our 20 to 40-somethings out for a good laugh and pvp goodness

I've been busy setting up for a housesitting gig over the last day and a half, but I wanted to let those who have replied know that I'm fairly impressed with several of the offers that have been proposed. That doesn't mean, however, that I've yet committed myself to a shortlist of potential candidates.
If you'd like to drop a message in the forum or send me an evemail, please do. Please make sure to be as honest and personal as you feel comfortable. A few sentences of small talk can do more good than all the copying and pasting in the world.
And, my apologies. I haven't found any suitable mood music for this post yet. |

For those who have sent me evemails and placed forum posts thus far, I want to thank you for your patience. I know I'm not the fastest in following up on people's requests, but I like to do a lot of cost / benefit thinking when looking at a place to move. That usually involves a bit of rudimentary research and some minor forum trawling at times. Wherever I go, I want to be sure I'm as happy there in 2015 or 2016 as I will be a month from now.
I'll be sending out replies over the next two or three days expressing my interest or thanking you for your offer. To new recruiters, this thread is far from closed. I'm always interested in more replies - perhaps there's something I've missed that you might be able to offer.
To everyone, regardless of shortlisting, I wish all of you the best in your recruitment efforts.

I'm going to make this real easy for you. Since killboards are honest and do not lie, I'm going to give you a link for one. http://bnana.eve-kill.net You'll either look at it, or you won't, but if you do, you will find we have a penchant for killing expensive toys.
Being honest, we're not a nullsec alliance, nor do we have any plans to be because we're having the time of our lives out here in lowsec where we are. We have both small fleets with under 10 members, and larger ones with 20-60. We're a growing alliance made up mostly of small corps full of GOOD PVPers, and really run our show like more of a large corp than a smaller alliance.
Our ranks are held together with a core of experienced PVPers, some with more SP than yourself, some with a little less. We also carry a large contingient of nubcakes we're honing into weapons of mass destruction.
You would not be the first pilot we have stolen from the clutches of nullsec and shown the light to, and you wouldn't be the last. A lot of us have done our time out in null, it just doesn't compare to the action we see here.
If you are interested in consistant action, having FUN while you PVP, and flying with a great group of guys, message me. |
