Edited by: Setec on 07/08/2003 16:53:55 I'm not going to name any names, except that I'll say that the person in question is of the Jovian race. I locked on to his Jovian battleship and attempted to jam it, though I'm not sure if it was successful or not. Nevertheless, instead of returning fire when I shot him, he invoked some sort of GM exploit to take me to 50% armor/hull/shields all instantly. Needless to say we were forced to allow the Jovians to continue to encroach on our territory and try to steal the property of our allies, because their exploitative damage capabilities gave us no choice. It seems the Jovians are nothing more than a bunch of particularly ugly cheating pirates.
I really would have liked to loot their jumpdrives. :( ___________________________________________

could've been a 'gun without a bang,' but score one for Setec for the post title anyway. Heh.
Either way, i'd advise that all Jovian capabilities have special effects so it's *clear* that no one is modifying anyone's ships directly with GM powers. If you (GM) had no means to fight off Setec and panicked, tough. Now you know how the rest of us feel when we realize a design is not balanced as intended
Seriously, you could have used "god powers" after the fact to make sure no Odd Loot appeared, right? And that's assuming you lost. God Powers being used on a live players' ship is extremely iffy. At best.
If, of course, this is what happened... since no one knows what the ^*(#?!! is up with the Jove now...

"Nevertheless, instead of returning fire when I shot him, he invoked some sort of GM exploit to take me to 50% armor/hull/shields all instantly."
... So you know it wasn't a result of being hit with jovian weapon how, exactly?.. o.o

It may well have been a weapon, but it seems a bit strong, ripping through half the hull with only 50% armour and 50% shield.
If it really was a weapon, it's gonna need some work... .

Maybe its a weapon that halfs all your hull/nrg/etc. that way it can't ever kill you but it does serious damage :)
but seriously....

There is also the possibility that the Jovian pilot has access to skills we do not. Namely Armor Breaching and Shield Piercing.
You'll notice that it's extremely rare for us as player to bypass shields and hit armor, despite high skills/damage. TacShield Manip is basically wasted beyond lvl 1 atm because nothing I've encoutered hits hard enough to bypass shields until shield strength is < 10%. Which means I'm already in trouble.
But supposing the Jovian pilot has those skills trained, I'd not want to see what their shots could do to people. Or better question: what's your TacShield trained to atm?
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann

It seems that the Jovians are actually agents of the system..
Like Matrix :)
They can bend the rules.
The problem for them is... I am The One.

I know it was a GM command and not a weapon because he said the GM command in local (heal 0.5 setec) and because it took me to a perfect 50%, not 49.9% or 50.1% etc. :) ___________________________________________

You probably got hit by an defensive energy weapon of some kind. Just be glad they didnŠt use their offensive arsenal on you....it would probably have been like swatting a fly to them.
So consider yourselves lucky to have survived this encounter :) I would feel lucky...
