Pardon the triviality of this thread, but curiosity has got the best of me. I frequent the SOE station in Gicodel where there is a public address voice that my translators cannot seem to translate. The voice is a female voice and very pleasant to the ear. I only wish to know what it is she is saying. If anyone has an accurate translation please post it here. Thanks.

When I was growing up and going to school I used to take public transport a lot. I'd always get annoyed when people got on there from some disgusting ghetto area and started talking in their ghetto filth language. I thought "how rude, to hide their conversation from the rest of us, they must be talking something suspicious, I wish I knew what it was so I could report these scum to the proper authorities so they could come and take the trashy people away and get their smell away from me". Then one day a friend let me borrow a translator and I found out that they were just talking about really boring stuff nobody cares about like how they didn't have enough money or food. How foolish of me to think that these people had the intellectual capacity to even be able to plan or comprehend anything scandalous or beyond their immediate situation, but what can I say, I was young. But it changed my attitude. Since that day, I like it when I see ghetto scum talking and I can't understand the language, because why would I want to understand them anyway. I'm sure it's never anything important, it's only right that they talk in their gutter tongue around me so my brain is not polluted with their thoughts. Anyway, my point is that I suspect this voice, if you could understand it, was probably just someone advertising flavoured crisps or something equally mundane, and yet you got suckered into caring about it because the narrator had a sweet voice, which just goes to show how effective a good voiceover person can be. I wouldn't worry about it, in fact you should be grateful that you didn't have to put up with the mental chore of having to comprehend it. |

Theobar, it's probably not your translators that are at fault.
It's a little like hearing a discussion through a wall. You know they're speaking a language you understand, but the words are muted and distorted by the intervening barrier, so you can't make out the specifics.
Suffice to say, it's probably a simple station announcement.

Maybe, however I've run into more then a few songs published in the federation that had really squeaky clean lyrics just the accent makes it sound provocative.
On the other hand you can say something very innocent sounding and with the use of tone and inflection imply something very inappropriate.
You have to take it case by case otherwise there would be just a flat ban on all media from abroad. |
