basically as per header, this drop adn event with the laser wouldnt have mattered if the csm had taken place on the test server
they could show and demonstrate anything they wished...
so move them there, be seen to be actively doing somethign CCP, its in your interests, as strangely we pay you...... don't bite off the hand that feeds you

Why, do the CSM's usually take place over at TTI's home system or something?

nope, but the dev who dropped the laser said he did it after flyign about following a csm, if the csm was on the test server this wouldn't have been a problme, - a a weekly showing of uber gear on teh test server might be a good idea publicity wise

Ya know, this wouldn't have been a big deal normally, I mean it was only one laser. TTI did what any sane person would have done. They bought the laser and put it to use. I must admit though that the picture they posted along with it in their little press release got me up in arms immediately also.
It had a picture of the laser's show info bax and in the background an entire TTI fleet mining. It was pretty easy to make the assumption that everyone one of those ships was using that laser. THAT's what made it so suspicious to me.
In hind-sight though . . . who cares. It was one mining laser given to a corpless player who turned around and did the smartest thing he could do. He sold it to the biggest corp he could find and he made his fortune.
I give kudos to TTI for role-playing it so well. Thier role-playing abilities is what I respect TTI most for, at least THEY understand that this is just a game. I am a little put out that not everyone in this game can have the kind of fun the bigger corps have but, whatever. I'll just keep staring at my rocks and killing my NPC pirates.
It's a shame they had to give the laser up IMO.

yup i read this on the other forum u posted it too, but the idea still stands, they can preview and splashout anything they like on the test server with each backup the stuff is gone
a great way of giving noobs previews (might work better if there was a roadmap) move the csm's and have a show and tell for all after...
proper publicity comes through word of mouth - this would be a way to generate it, and if someone mucks up, the server can be easily reset without anyone having cause to complain
