Well, let's award some really bad shows/movies 
Worst series: Space Above (they should have paid me to watch it!)
Worst movie: Ghosts of Mars (killer bugs on Mars, COMMON'!!!)

S:A&B has one of the best storylines ever in a sci-fi tv show. The last 2 episodes were just pure beauty.
worst tv show: power rangers (all of them)
worst movie: sphere was pretty bad, jurassic park 3 may have been worse

You ppl haven't even scratched the surface of bad sci-fi. Altho I agree that the films listed are bad, sci-fi as a genre, seems to encourage bad movies. Let me start my list with, Attack of the Eye Creatures. That should give you an indication of where my thoughts are heading. I mean BAD movies... There used to be another sci-fi series that was so bad, it's gone now. Get this, the bug-eyed, alien creature drug-dealer had a streetwise, gangsta rappa, hiphop accent. OMG!! and no, he (it) wasn't from LA or NY.... just bad, bad and lame. Lame-na-lame..!

S:A&B was brilliant, real shame it was cancelled.
Worst series: Space Police (Gerry Anderson's attempt at live action series), think that had the bug-eyed monster thing.
Worst Movie: I agree with OP. Ghosts of Mars was really chronic. Bad Sci-fi & bad horror (though I have yet to see a good horror mind).

Space: Above and Beyond was the best Sci-Fi series ever made (I've yet to watch Serenity though).
The last episode of S:A&B had me crying, because I knew the series was cancelled before I watched it. What an End. That series had the potential to be the greatest television series ever.

There was a movie when i was a kid where the main character had nothing but the hilt of a sword and he was told that it was a great weapon etc etc - It started with him being a slave in a mine. - i remember it being great but could be rose tinted specs.

FOX loves cancelling good shows.
Yup Family Guy and Wonderfalls are two that springs too mind - anyone see that wonderfalls i thought it was genius

Farscape, i would say is one of the best series
GITS is brilliant, i dont like the stand alone to much, but GITS 2 has just come out in the cinema, looking forward to seeing that. The Fifth Element, love that film
The worst, hmmm the new Doctor Who, i hate it! Andromaeda... the last star trek film, what a waste of time.

I don't get why people don't like GITS:SAC. The first movie IMO was mediocre, being more like a long TV episode, except without a very complex plot. It didn't seem very good IMO.
The second one was pretty, and not much more. To me, it seemed like the usual Oshii-style Blade Runner ripoff. Good to watch, but not much of a story, and the usual lack of character development.
The series, on the other hand, having 26 episodes to tell a real story... and being done by Shirow instead...

I liked Enterprise, a lot.
All the StarGate's (movies, shows, etc.) are good, Atlantis is different, wich is good.
Voyager sucked, DS9 sucked a bit less...
Andromeda sucks the big one.
Earth Final Conflict was on the edge of cheese, but I liked it...

All thou i have only seen the first 4 so far (got the dvd), the robots are just silly (the ones in your sig) whats with the high pitch voices??
Some of the stories are interesting and deep, but enought to send me to sleep.
Although the animation is amazing as well as the CG and opening sound track.

Worst - Stargate Atlantis & Fifth element (the most clichÚd film ever!!!)
