I recently came through a 0.4 system, and found a BS sitting on top of the gate, using a swarm of light drones to aggress the guns, then warp scrambling passing ships while a colleague sniped from long range.
Since it was announced that using small drones to confuse the targetting of POS guns was classed as an exploit, does the same apply to the NPC sentry guns, or can anyone quite happily use this tactic to draw fire away from their ship when camping?

I say again: You sir are a RETARD.
ALL questions of exploits are to be sent to the gms. send a pettiton. they will answer you in very short order.
Everytime some phook-tard like you posts a "is this an exploit?" question, the very next day you get 3 thousand phook-tards all trying it out.

OK, so how about a response from someone with a mental age over 8? Seeing as this tactic has been used in the past, can anyone remember what the official response to it was?

Ummm...I'm pretty sure plenty of pirates knew about this already. As one who aggresses pirates without a war, I knew of this handy little trick. And as sentry guns rotate targets fairly frequently, it won't buy you all the time in the world anyway. The problem with POS guns is that they weren't rotating targets.
I think.
Ah well. At any rate, this is a known tactic and I'm pretty sure CCP has let it be.

As far as I know its only an exploit on a POS since the it takes the POS longer to lock a light drone than its cycle time is.
A light drone will get instalocked and popped by sentry guns. All the guy is doing is buying himself a few seconds time while the guns arent shooting at his ship.
I'd be very surprised if it was an exploit since the sentry guns can clearly hit a light drone.

all the pirate has to do is attack the victim with the drones and no exploit/ even tho i dont believe its a exploit anyways

Its hardly new, people have done this for a hell of a long time before it was mentioned here, just keep popping warrior drones out and the sentries aggro them, they dont last long so its not like the sentries miss or anything, they still get eaten rather fast, i can think of better ways to get banned tho.
It does seem rather borderline which is why we never do it.

it's not an exploit.
the guns shoot (and kill) the drones, all it does is buy you more time.
afaik, the pos thing was an exploit because the turrets couldn't hit the drones.
retard.

I, too, fail to see how adding more targets for the turrets to shoot is an exploit.
Nor do I find this to be cheesy.

If you want to know if something is an exploit, please submit a petition to the GMs. Posting about exploits or potential exploits on the forums is not allowed.
