I'm focusing on setting up a ship that can snipe rats from afar.
What should I be looking into?
Ship/setup?
I'd appreciate the help!
Thanks guys

you really need to say what race and class your looking into... ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

I use my Mega with....
7 425mm rails with iridium
2 tracking 2 sens boosts
4mag stabs 2 tracking med rep (for after battle repair, not tanking)
warp to belt at 100, bm, align away from rats, shoot frigs first so they dont scramble you then cruiser and bships. Warp out if you get into trouble and warp back into the BM at 100 and off you go again.

For extreme range you want a phoon with 1400II and lots of gyros/tracking2. You'll need a buddy in another phoon if you want to do much damage - the typhoon doesn't get damage bonuses apart from RoF which isn't really relevant here since most ships will be able to warp out in the 7-8s it will take you to get a second volley off.

Yeah, for npc sniping, you'd do best to use a Typhoon, since it gets a sexy 50% optimal with BS 5.
Of course, you don't get any rof or dmg bonus, and are stuck with 4 turret hardpoints (damn you, CCP!) so you'll probably need some decent missile skills, or 7x gyro 2's :-P

Ive been experimenting with the mega for sniping and it seems better than the tempest because of the tracking bonus.
Taking it to its extreme Ive used T2 425's with iron and everything else tracking and gun range mods which give a very nice range well beyond the targetting range of the boosted ship.
However with this Ive also tried remote sensor boosters from another ship - lots of them. This allows a more or less insta lock but Ive found that the max target range I can achieve is 249km - doesnt matter if I use more boosters.
Is this the absolute maximum possible or is there some way to push this target range further?

Ive been using a Geddon with 7 tachs. Not too bad if you put on a monopulse and a few sensor boosters.
