Another topic regarding gate sniping left me wondering, what's the furthest distance you've killed a ship from not just landed a blow.
For me it's 200k even in a t2 tempest with a boosting BB and it was a t1 frigate

On the test server a while back I set up a ridiculously lame snipergeddon setup to snipe in FFA for laughs. I ended up popping someone's Taranis out at like 160km...

I convinced a newbie that clonejumping was cool. He then found out that he didn't have a properly updated clone.
Sure, it's not a kill... but it's a kill by association, innit? I have no idea how far away I was, most likely 50+ jumps.
In the same grid, the most I've had was 50km in a gankageddon, with microwave crystals, nuking a nosferthron. That's the most you'll ever see from me in terms of sniping.

my typhoon can lock out to 239km, while my guns optimal is at 208km and has a falloff of 46km. just barely outside the 250km maximum range.
of course at that distance, the only thing thatll die is a frigate. which is what happened. popped a griffin at 225-230km-ish.

my apoc vs ranis at some 170ish km. think he was farther but turned on his mwd and approached our fleet. the strange thing was that i remember he was well outside my max range, maybe the scanner was lagging or something or just lucky wrecking shot.

With L5/5 range skills on a raven you can hit that far.

Furthest i have hit from is 350km with phoon, and weck for 1200+ at 300km out, mostly use it in gang, but will only be killing frigates and maybe t1 cruisers with it solo, only have 4 guns

Clicked approach instead of orbit, flew right up to a hostile frig, who was either using long range weapons, or shooting something else, because my AM railguns and rockets + fire from another frig ripped him apart.
Was some time back, so not I forget who it was, but they were newer than I was so it was just a short t1 brawl.

To answer the one question about locking past 249km away.... thats pre-patch, not sure exactly when it changed but you used to be able to fit sensor boosters and there was no limit to locking distance except for what your boosters took you too.
Along time ago we had a station camped down in 4GQ with a bubble for 4 days striaght and at one point LA GEAR came down in a sniping Typhoon (with I think a bb boosting him) and was trying to kill the bubble from about 350km away. We had a guy near the bubble with remote repair on the bubble until the aim was taken at him.
That was some of the best sniping I have seen, he kept everyone neverous at that camp from that crazy range he could hit at.

Lmao. sorry but as a sniper i find the Very Hard to believe. I have got most my sp in Projectle weapons and Minmatar bs lvl 5 and spend alot of time sniping and there no way u will hit anything at that distace with ONLY 4x tracking Enhancer II. I fly a fully equiped Tech II tempest and have tested the Phoon and No way i hell will u hit a target, never mind killing at tech I crusier.
