Edited by: Gaeta on 11/11/2005 17:58:22 I'm new to this whole trading thing and I'm loving it. I was able to find a good trade route last night and jumping in and out while the isks are pouring in. I'd probably just need a better ship to be more profitable.
Is there any way to protect this route? The more I abuse it, the more it becomes obvious to people. When I first started, this station is selling trade goods at 680isk each... after several trips, it's now at 550isk while the demand remains at 750isk (station changes though but the quantity demand remains at 144).
As long as noone discovers this, will the supply/demand prices remain the same?

There is no way to protect it. Every now and then the supply/demand will be reseted. The exact figures are only known to the Devs.
If you run that route excessivly, it will dry out sooner or later, and you need to wait until the the Supply/Demand goes to a good level again. If someone else is runing this Route, too, it will dry out even faster. That is why many Traderoutes are not told, even to close friends. -- bye, Ki Shodan

I protect my traderoute by buying *all* of the supply, and I do mean all of the supply. Thus anyone else even trying to find the route will just think that there is no profits to be made.
And no I don't check 24/7, but since I know roughly the price reset time I know which night I need to log in and do my 2-3 region buy orders. The time between is spent hauling it all to the buy points. I was using standing buy orders but then people started undercutting me and were finding the runs. I just "helped" them to move to more profitable items by sucking up the items at low profits for almost a month. Convinced all but one guy to move on so far. This is my eve pvp mode :)
Note: The item I buy is not the best and it is not the worst to trade in terms of profits....and it involves a long boring 1-2 hour frieghter ride back and forth dozens of times per week. I don't plan to do it forever - just until I can afford a tech 2 bpo that will replace the income.
Enough info grasshopper?
