Posted this originally in a dying thread, so I thought I'd focus on it here.
And here's the bug. If you put a can inside your cargo hold, and then put ammo in that can to seperate it from the rest of your cargo, you can no longer reload your modules manually.
This in turn, forces you to keep ammo mixed with cargo (sharing the space, mind you), compared to the alternative which is letting your modules run out of ammo, possibly in a fight, and waiting for them to reload while you could possibly be whomped on by your current target/s.
Is this intentional?

Sounds intentional to me.
Is it really that much of a burden for you to store ammo directly in your cargo bay? In 99.9% of situations the extra database queries that would be required to manipulate ammo in cans wouldn't be made use of, and would just waste processing time (albeit probably a very small amount of time).

Yes. My ammo takes up 50% of my cargo space alone.
I know some people that rely on autocannons have almost no cargo space as well, just to name one weapon configuration type.

Then that weapon configuration type is not the right one for the task in hand.

packing ammo, and scooping loot is a balance that must be struck.
you can either have multiple times the ammo you could ever use in an engagement, or you could reserve space for some loot.
And in some cases, no matter how much you skimp on ammo space, you just can't get all your loot in one go, it's a "terrible" thing to have so much loot you can't lug it all at once (holds back laughter)
the entire reason Battleships weren't kept with their orignially enormous cargo holds is precisely for these reasons, and to give the industrial ship a reason to exist.
your cargo hold is limited, and because of that limitation there is always the logistics of loot versus ammo in your inventory.

Here's an idea. Put your cargo in the cans and leave the ammo in the hold.
Problem Solved. **************** Pain is a way of knowing yourself; Death is the ultimate in self-discovery.

The amount of space you get in your Ferox cargo bay...345 m3.
The space a medium container takes up...325 m3.
Trying to shove 775 missiles into 20 m3 of space? PRICELESS
There are some things ISK can't buy. For everything else, there's whining to the devs on the forums for more ammo space.

If you open the can in your cargo hold, then make the new window the same size as the cargo hold window and drag over your cargo hold window till it lights up (may be have to double click it), you will have 2 tabs now 1 the cargo hold and 2 the tab for the can inside the cargo hold. nice and tidy you can now drag ammo from your can into the cargo hold tab, just like in chat widow where you have tabs for differnt channels. happy caning
