A Mac-using alliance mate and I have had the same problem, where sometimes after the EVE client loses focus, the UI becomes intermittently receptive to mouse clicks. For instance, left-clicking or left-double-clicking on a module toggles overheating, not the module itself, even if the mouse was nowhere near the little overheating stripe at the top. The overview highlights whatever my mouse is hovering over, but refuses to respond to clicks.
I am able to work around the problem by disabling the UI (ctrl-F9) then re-enabling it (ctrl-shift-F9, then ctrl-F9 -- and I have no idea why I have to use both in that sequence, but I do). Proud founder and member of the Belligerent Desirables. |

I'm having the same problem, although the ctrl-F9 trick doesn't work. Restarting the client or logging off/on fixes it, but it usually only lasts a minute or two. |

I've narrowed it down: What's happening is that the UI starts to behave as if the SHIFT key is being constantly depressed: any attempt to select another item from a list where you've already selected one item becomes a range-select; any attempt to activate a module, whether from the mouse or the keyboard, becomes a request to overheat, and modules that can't overheat like the Damage Controls simply don't respond.
This is a problem. I still haven't figured out when or why it happens, or if there's a workaround besides quitting and relaunching.

The sticky keys bug is an old one. I fix it by quickly tapping all the modifier keys : Shift, then fn, control, option, command. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |
