I run my EVE in windowed mode, and i find if I move my mouse pointer outside the window, my FPS drops to about 2 a second, in fac the whole of windoes goes slow too.
This never happened with my G-Force card (bless its soul) and I now wish I'd stuck with NVIDIA.
Any ideas what is causing this problem? Card is 9800xt-pe CEO |

I have a Radeon 9800 pro and a P4 2.66 Proceesor. When I play eve I have to play in full screen because for some reason my system just doesnt like windowed mode. I get a drop in frames and it just looks choppy. I havent figured out how to solve this problem either. Removed signature, exceeds forum size limits. I get this frame rate drop when playing in window mode if I have AA or AF on at all.
If I turn AA and AF off then the FR drop does not happen.

I have a X850XT which has the same "issue". I did not notice this pattern until recently (it mayy have happend as I switched to AA mode).
What I experience is when I move my muse outside the game window, the game will only slow down if:
...the mouse is pointing at "something" that make a "windows tip" (the small yellow box that pops up when you point at a task on your windows task bar for instance). ...the mouse is pointing at text (the curser changes from an arrow to a text cursor). ...any menu is open (start menu, right-click menu) or any other menu that may produce a shadow effect on the desktop.
Besides from that I have no problem using other apps while playing the game as long as I keep track of my mouse. ----------------------------------------------------------- . o And that's the way the cookie crumbles o . |

I have a X80P0PE and I am having the same problem. This has prevented me from having another client. |

I've got an 850xt pe.
Never had any such problems seem to get a steady frame rate of at least 40fps no matter what happens, even blobs.
Sadly the monitor only supports 1028 x 768 but everything else is as high as it goes. |

Edited by: Chriton on 17/11/2005 09:32:27 I can easily switch between two windowed EVE clients. As long as I keep my mouse away from the "situations" described earlier.
For reasons not clear to me atm, I did NOT have the problem yesterday. This may be due to Q4 changing some of my settings. Looking into it.
Anywho... ATI stills rocks i my book
Edit:
Come to think of it... I have disabled Themes in XP. Maybe this can have something to do with the issues. ----------------------------------------------------------- . o And that's the way the cookie crumbles o . |
