This thought just hit me when I was contemplating training for T2 siege launchers; when T2 missiles/crystals/charges/projectiles becomes available, are the ammo blueprints going to be released through the current R&D system (or the new system, if its available at that time)?
If it is, how many BPs are planned to be distributed; I can see T2 Cruise/Torps being absolutely devoured by mission runners, so there will either need to be a HUGE number of ammo BPs released, or the possibility for people to acquire their own BPs without the lottery.

T2 ammo might be something different, rather than something better. For example, in the item DB there are tech 2 laser crystals with explosive damage. - Proud member of the [23].

I doubt that's going to stay though; we all know that the dev's like to play around when it comes to items that are in the database but aren't officially released yet.
As for it being a luxury item, I suppose thats true. But with the number of people who will want to use it (the biggest number of them being mission*****s with a few hundred million lying about anyway), I can see the prices being extremely high, I'm talking on a level worse than the current Cap2 markup.

TBH if they have massive tracking/rof penalties, explosive crystals wouldn't be too bad. There'll likely only be one type that does EXP, and it'll have one range modifier that can be made equal to the least-used crystals atm to try and balance things. Ofc this relies on hybrids also being able to do all damage types with t2 ammo... I just hope they release hundreds of BPOs for each (and t2 missiles) so they aren't mindblowingly expensive - bear in mind, T2 crystals will degrade like mining crystals do. |

I would expect the t2 ammo to be used mainly in PvP, where an extra edge is always welcome. Engagements are often short and ammo consumption, with a few exceptions, is usually low. Mass use of t2 ammo in missions wont be cost effective.

Wasn't there talk about t2 laser crystals being consumable like mining crystals?

Yes. Faction crystals already deteriorate with use and, as some Dev has stated, so will T2.

Remember that currently in the database, T2 ammo can only be used by T2 guns.

I've always had the feeling that the T2 weapons were given the biggest supply because they were so universally usefull, which leads to the most competition and the most reasonable prices, most likely I think T2 ammo will be just as well supplied if not more so.
I'm pretty sure it will still be just via the lottery mind, the same way the other major consumable we've had so far (drones) were (and there is nowhere near a shortage of supply of those last time I looked).
But hey we'll see when they get here. . ----- Apologies for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Just give me some Large anti-anti matter ammo :) with some EM and Explosive damage and I will be a happy happy man :)
You could probably mix tech 1 and tech 2 ammo and cover all the damage types. But probably just use the most effective one for your current enemy anyways....
Nice to have options of course. But if they do a base 10% more damage or something that would be awesome. Blasters with more damage from ammo would be sweet...

after the next patch they have to bring t2 ammo because the damage get's lowered (stacking penalty damage control and possible 25 % HP boost)

No, the Dev's have made those changes to:
- Give the infamously useless Damage Control Systems an actual purpose
- Increase the duration of fights by boosting the total hitpoints available on any ship
- Put an end to the insanely overpowered gank & sniper setups that some people seem to worship
They won't introduce ammo so powerful that it will bring the damage figures back up to what we see now, but they will have to ensure that the ammo offers enough of a bonus to damage to make its use worthwhile. That's why I believe we don't already have nor are going to see T2 ammo come in with RMR; the Dev's want to see what the listed changes are going to make to fights before they even begin to speculate how the T2 ammo is going to impact those changes. Think of it as a pre-nerf release which will later get boosted, but without the pre-nerf

I would rather them to be TIER 2 ammo rather than tech-2.
Tech-2 = better overall, very expensive. Tier-2 = greater varaity, same price.
I would rather have EM dealing hybrid ammo than a 10,000isk per unit antimatter-II.

I hope they release twice or so the normal quantity of t2 BPOs on this cause t2 ammo isn't guns, isn't drones, it's ammo ... you shoot it and destroy it, you can't get it back And I would really like to see prices affordable for pvp and npcing ... I wonder when they will put faction missiles in the game too

Finally, somebody who I feel I see eye to eye with on this issue!
Personally though, I believe faction missiles were left out for one main reason; the missile patch. It hit at the same time that faction turret ammo did, and as with most of the new additions we've been seeing recently, came pre-nerfed. The dev's have admitted that there are issues with the new missile system, most of which will soon be rectified with RMR and possibly more with Kali, but when the missile system was first introduced I think the thought was to ensure the system worked as the Dev's had so far envisioned it; adding in faction ammo complicates matters with new equations such as the new missile damage system, and could have lead to errors and exploits that we ALL don't want to see.
Now that the dev's have spotted a few things that they agree are currently out of order and are going to be put right, its time for them to start thinging about faction missiles. All I want to see are the "Tech 3" Phlanx rockets iirc, that reduced thermal damage being introduced; that would be one HELL of a tactical benefit!
