Maybe they just want to shoot some stuff, and get other people to join them. As most alliances can tell you unless someone takes initiative and creates content, nothing ever happens. Get a bunch of low skill point pilots who are bored into cheap ships, and go for a romp, it a nice afternoon event. If you lose it doesn't matter because its cheap, and if you manage to do something (like work on taking out a logistics fleet) you can have a large impact in the battle.
It is content generation, and there are lots of pilots who would like to see big fights, but lack the ability or knowledge to get there themselves, or lack the friends to make the trip enjoyable.

Well anyway, she's obviously doing it for the benefit of Goons. By supporting James315 while begging miners for their assistance, begging for aid for TEST and supporting TEST, she is actually creating a form of 'reverse propaganda'. She's creating an unpopular sentiment towards TEST and shedding a bad light on them with her main and her alts. She's doing whatever she can to help Goons without having to undock from her trade hub station. It's kind of clever really.
