The graphical effects that represent ship activity are fairly limited in game. I believe more can be done to make ships more reactive or representative of what the pilot is doing.
We have effects for guns and some other turret's, missiles, textures for armor and shield hardners/repair. Can this not be expanded on?
Things that don't have effects or could be improved on include; - Overheating - Heatsinks can be added to parts of ships so that when activated they glow relative to the amount of heat build up - Capacitor - The capacitor could be represented by the lights/windows on ships, high cap means all the lights are on while low cap means fewer lights. - Logistics Modules - Can we get turrets for these as well? - Probe Launchers - Same as above

During overheat, perhaps the weapons/turrets/launchers can start smoking/glowing/etc. I like the idea of logistic mods having turrets, Id like to see Neuts/vamps and the other highslot mods be visible too. Id like the offensive midslot modules to have some kind of external feature. EWAR turrets maybe? I do like the idea of the lights on the ship reflecting cap.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

I just thought of another idea for bumping - At the moment there is no ingame backstory reason for the billiard bumping physics.

One word: damage.
Depending on what you've hit (shield/armour/structure?) the impact effect would change. Shields could, perhaps, have a blue shimmer when hit. Armour? Bits and pieces being blasted off, of course! (particle-based sprites with random debris texture that lives for like two seconds, bursting out into space after hit. I mean, with the amount of particles going on already, especially with missiles, it doesn't soudn unreal.)
CCP demonstrated an interesting texture-based approach to structural damage which looked really cool aswell. Failing that, smoke and fire just not a single attached at one spot. Just ramp up the particle effects ( a few randomly placed emitters ), mix the hull texture with some noise and scorch marks (Might be harder than it sounds, depending on the way to implement it...) so that if you do choose to zoom in you'll know this ship is absolutely wrecked.

i would like to see an "warp out" effect. Something you see as observer when ships warp out or the warpdrive is spinning up. (think: back to the future movie) eve style bounties (done) dust boarding parties imagine there is war and everybody cloaks - join FW |

On the topic of things heating up, the Medium Quad Something-or-Other Beam Laser shows visible heat glow at the end of the focusing barrels which cools before the next cycle starts and the gun heats up again. It's actually pretty interesting to notice. |

I like these ideas and think we should make a +1 thread about this just like the high res pack thread that's out there now.

I always find it fascinating how whenever some people start complaining about a feature there are others who coincidentally come out of the woodwork asking for the exact opposite. I would also love to see these improvements. I have thought for a long time that all high slot modules should have some kind of turret or graphic that scales with your ship size. You can't even see some of the small things like tractor beams on large ships.
Examples
Antenna that jut out and blink for drone control mods
A rotating satellite dish for neuts
I'm sure the design team can come up with some awesome things and I for one would love to see them. |

I myself wanted to draw some concept images for neut/nos or the bubble generator. I imagined the latter as an array of dishes, that form a hemi-sphere when unscripted and when the focused disruption scrip is plugged in, they would form a bigger dish... maybe each of the units would be hexagonal, so they have a very narrow gaps between them in either position etc. |

Bump and more idea's.
- Docking/Undocking lights (like planes) - Update drone models so that have turrets that track and shoot instead of plasma bolts firing out of the drone model itself. - Some effects for activation of self-destruct sequence. Maybe flashing window lights plus jets of plasma/fire shooting out of the ship. - Tracking Distruptor effect that is presented on the turret modules (blacked out + electril discharge) Herping your derp since 19Potato --á[Proposal] - Ingame Visual Adverts |
