Most forum regulars will respond to this post with both creative and childish insults, frankly I couldn't care less as I won't be back to read them. My goal is to express sadness.
When Sony had all of it's security concerns and shut down all operations I had been playing Star Wars Galaxies. I went looking for a different MMO. I came across Eve, reading about it I was thrilled, in my mind formed images of Starflight in an MMO.
I have never in my life seen a more dishearted group of customers in my life. I've been playing MMOs since 2001, there are always issues. In Eve you have a minority of players that essentially dictate how the majority players. This minority deprives the majority access to many of what should be fun content. This same minority apparently has as their goal to drive the minority out of the game entirely by doing everything in their power to grief "highsec" players. For some reason this minority feels that highsec players have no right to enjoy their online time.
This is a group of people that feel killing a new player in his Navitus garners them the same honor as killing a well fit well flown Megathron.
I think the best example of childishness aimed at me was being called a ***** because I wouldn't fight a veteran player (whom I did not know) in his Hurricane with my T1 equipped Punisher Frigate. The next day I watched this same person in his hurricane fight Hyperion to the point the Hyperion has to warp out to survive.
Eve could attract many thousands of new players that stay were these nasty gankers, griefers, sadists denied their tools for torturing other players, particularly new ones.
My four accounts are insignificant but how many other have left silently.

LOL. Did I say I was going to play a Sony game? SWG is shutting down Dec 15th which is why I pointed out that Eve could gain a lot of new players. If Sony buys a stake in CCP? Be careful what you wish for you may just get it.

You know, i know brazilian high-sec carebears that are amongst the happiest of the carebears in EVE. And they have had their fair share of ganks. Know why? Because they do not understand english and don't have a clue about what those people are saying to them. They truly could not care less.
1. No true combat veteran would feel "proud" about killing a megathron. Maybe warm and fuzzy. Proud? Bah..
2. A hyperion is worse than a megathron.
So play your game, and ignore other people if you must. Today's men make me sick..

They don't scare me, I just don't think it's fun dealing with people who's sole purpose for playing is to keep me from playing. But then you are probably one of the group that want all the "Carebears" you dispise so much to leave anyway.
My first MMO in 2001 was World War II Online, 100% PvP. I was quite good at it too. |

A man SO reviled in the MMO/Gaming industry that when it was announced he was being hired on to STO, there was am EVE style forum riot that killed the functionality for days. When it finally calmed down, the Devs were backing off how involved Roper would be in the project rofl

Strickly speaking killing them on their own terms wouldn't be greifing. I'd be happy to explode them, just one problem, my T1 ship don't stand much chance against a T2 battlecruiser or a T3 cruiser. Particularly when they come in groups of five.
I was in a player corporation for a while, until another corporation none of us had ever heard of declared war. I was told this is standard practice when a corp wants to inflate its stats, it comes to highsec to find easy victims. Funny thing was in that war our corporation lost 3 frigates (1st engagement), the other corp lost to 2 BCs (2nd engagement). I was offline at the time, alas work does interfere, but Im told the other corporation was quite offended that we used such "ghey" tactics to prevent them docking to come back to the fight with new ships. |

I can assure you that the cane pilot had Implants worth more then the BS hes fighting, over heated his guns, and has a orca or Command ship in system giving boosts.
Either way, you only engage when you know you will fight.

every mmo is like eve as far as griefers go
ever go onto battlefield servers? u get spawn campers popping ppl constantly before they even load screen
same happens in many other online games...
Griefing even happens in wow, and will happen in the new starwars game.
if you dont like being griefed stick to single player games
