We are talking about Ventures, i don't think anyone except them to win the war, and it's safe to say everyone is going to die, but you never know what they might run into before that happens. It's probably going to be fun, educational and with a little luck it might even be positive win/lose isk ratio. Meh. The predictions are likely true - We're all going to die in a pointless fire somewhere short of the goal. But really, the journey ought to be worth it. Maybe even epic, if things turn out well - my most fun ever was being chased in a pod virtually halfway across empire space by a failed gank-target. BOY was he mad! - AFTER I'd lol-failed, no less. :D So - If there's a big fire, and my hull goes up in smoke, I may yet have some fun. Maybe even more fun than if everything goes perfectly.
This, and also why we are using essentially throw away ships that are essentially free*
(*since several people have asked how it is free. Simple, buy some mining gear and mine some ore before we leave. This covers the cost of the ship > fit > pod/clone making the event cost you nothing but time.) |

If anyone wants to come along and livestream it, I should be heading down to Fountain in about 4 hours or so. See Bio for isk doubling rules. -áIf you didn't read bio, chances are you helped fund those who did. |

Many of the people bashing are probably the same ones who complain nothing ever happens in EVE. |

Hohoho nice initiative, props to you.
However if you ever make it to pass the R&K's smartbombing BlackOps camps, if you ever make it to destination without loosing 2/3 of your fleet to Bombing diks, someone somewhere will be in an instant alpha shooting stuff/fleet/gang trying to get as much kills as they can.

Awesome initiative still to take those pubbies out of high sec take the fresh air of freedom in null sec and make them like pewpew

As soon as you tell the fleet where to go, every 0.0 entity will know. This thing will have so many AWOX alts and spies, that if you get more than three jumps into 0.0 without getting hotdroped/ganked, I would be surprised. If you do somehow defy the odds and actually get to your destination, I doubt you would actually be of any effect, before they descend on you like a pack of rabid wolves.
Either way this will end hilariously for you. "I don't know which is worse, ...that everyone has his price, or that the price is always so low." Calvin

Should be a good time but unfortunately for the AWOXers I will only be giving out one jump coordinate at a time. Simply to reduce the possibility of this happening. So if they are good at guessing directions, or know regions pretty good I guess they can put 2 and 2 together, and who knows maybe Fountain isn't the destination at all. vOv.
But yes making it there would be cool, if not it should still be fun. I kinda hope we do get a fight along the way.
But the most probable outcome is we will mostly shoot ourselves because everyone is a spy alt for everyone else.
Either way Ventures will die, and I shall be the one to lead them.

Won't take all that long to narrow down your destination & route to a chokepoint or two.
Still a damn fine idea, IMO - I'll get to sell some more BPCs, and some folks will be entertained for a bit - either by breaking out of HiSec, or by trying to intercept. Carry on smartly!

That's what I figure will happen too. But, I went on a "manroam" with Psychotic Monk that was advertised well in advance. We did a ton of jumps from Jita through low and null. Hardly saw a soul and didn't get into a fight even until the last gate to our planned destination. This was the last thing I saw before being ejected from the warm embrace of my pod:

No you are right, anyone who is planing to AWOX will have a rough idea of the possible routes from New Caldari, so the probability of them being able to pinpoint a route after a few jumps will be high. I mean it doesn't take long to cross systems that didn't get jumped into off the list, ultimately providing a more and more accurate location. If I go left they can chop anything on the right off, in many cases.
But nothing can be perfectly safe. For all I know a highsec corp will come in destroyers with enough points to stop all the ventures or scrams and webs and a bubble boy waiting in 0.0. I think for sure the biggest threat comes from inside the fleet. But I also think thats what will also make it exciting. Most of us have no idea who the other is, are we mains? or are we alts? What have you. So I think without even considering additional threats that there are some very exciting scenarios that can play out.
Then of course you add the potential for some SB BS or some other form of funny to see asshattery.
I mean it could all be a big troll too, maybe I just need some ventures taken to null sec and didn't want to do it in another freighter run, so decided to get pilots to purchase, fit and fly them there for me, tell them to dump them in station, or they get camped into station. Am I that kind of ****....
we will find out Saturday.

When someone doesn't bankroll the loss of ships, it will get costly. If the newer player has any implants to speed up training, even more so (losing those +3s whenever podded adds up, especially when level 2 missions don't pay enough LP or ISK to keep buying them -- and unless you're in a blob fleet won't get them replaced cheaply).
As they say in EvE: if you can't afford to lose it, don't engage in the activity.
For new players it's best that they learn how to make ISK to be self-supporting, and that's when the game become enjoyable (and can afford losing implants and ships by the dozen). "In a world of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." ~George Orwell

339000 Isk. Infomorph Psychology (Jump Clone to protect implants.) A week to cover the cost of a ship that is knowingly going to get destroyed + Implants if you choose to keep them in.
Its about as new player friendly as it can get, because it shows them that they don't need to fly the big expensive things to do something. While you might lose and die, flying cheap crap can more often than not result in more stuff actually happening. |
