I decided to screw around and train up for Special Ops ships. I didnt really read near as much as I should have, but oh well. who ever reads instructions anyways.
Anyhow. A couple questions.
So, I first buy a Manticore, thinking it follows the normal rules of Special Ops ships. Seems cool, but I dont see how much use it is honestly. It just seems like a beefed up Kestrel.
What good is a stealth bomber if you can see them coming? ( aka ability to non stealth while warping )
Okay fine. Its a Stealth Bomber, not a special Ops ships. I dont see much point behind it though. Unless I want to gank pods at a gate.
So I go buy a Buzzard special Ops ship. I was told these things could warp in cloak. So I refit it. I ret it. No dice.
so now I am stuck with 2 ships that I dont see how usefull they are. Sure, I can launch probes on my Buzz, and kill pods in a Manti. But what real role do these things have?
In pvp, what are the roles of a Special Ops ship and a Stealth bomber? Can anyone give me good examples where another ship wouldnt have been more effective? Or where the cost / bennefit ratio was favorable?

Ya, I saw those, but I saw the CPU was 5000, and I wasnt sure if that was nullified when it came to special ops frigs.

Buzzard gets a bonus to reduce that CPU load by at least 92%. ____________________ 1) Buy Eve Time Card 2) Sell it for ISK 3) You just legally bought ISK for real money! |

So situationally, how do you guys use say, stealth bombers? I understand the use for special ops ships. They dont kill anything. They just track things down and scout. Easy enough.

I can't seem to find anything on this question either, figured this would be a good place to put it instead of making a whole new thread.
Once you've jumped through a gate into a system, can you activate the cloaking device while you're still sitting there cloaked so you can just warp out without anyone ever seeing you? Or do you have to just be quick on the trigger to turn the module on after you decloak? ===== Space-Ninjas are mammals too. |

what is a 'special ops' class ship? never seen or read about one.
but if you train up for 'covert ops', you need to train up covert ops lvl 5 and cloaking lvl 5, to really have fun with the covert ops ship.
Stealth bomber is sort of awkward imo. They don't use the covert ops cloak II, so they are really not covert ops.
They are simply a frig with a huge power bonus for fitting cruise launchers and are lots of fun. Oh, yeah, then you can fit up to an improved cloak II, (like any other ship), except for a weird 'speed' bonus that is factored by your covert ops skill lvl.
cost/benefit? well the SB is the cheapest ship to carry cruise mssls for what that's worth.

Stealth bombers are usefull......you just need to fly one properly... i fly stealth bombers and ive killed people in them....they are for attacking people not for mission running or for launching scan probes!
And NEVER fit turrets onto a stealth bomber stealth bombers are made for long range engagements....Because they have so Weak defence and they a pretty hard to fit out even with all lvl 5 engineerin skills and weapons/advanced weapons upgrades lvl 5
Your supposed to sit ata a gate in a stealth bomber...wait till something comes along...decloak then wtfpwn them...sometimes u may need someone there with a ceptor to scramble them

You cant activate it while in the stealth mode from jumping. However, You can cloak within ( literally ) half a second. So fast that they never see you in space, and have absolutley no chance to target you. Then you just fly away at your leasure.
