Sure its been covered but I think it would be a good idea to get rid of the shield hardener graphic. In doing so it could decrease lag in a fight by a very large ammount. Also I dont think anyone would really miss it.

ctrl + alt + shift + E turns of effects ctrl + alt + shift + t turns off turret effects
The can make a massive difference in lag in fleetbattles

Kindof funny tho. The other day we were about to get into a big fight. Right before the commander said press this and that to turn off effect and turrents. I was like...wtf did he say I could turn off. Then boom, 80 man close range fight.

Yeah, that'll make what the FC said kinda a low priority if you don't know what the frell he was talking about.

i think the shield hardener graphic is pretty lame, i always turn off effects first thing i do when i log into eve.. i like the effects but to get rid of that shield hardener crap it's worth losing all the other cool effects (like missile smoke) :( ------ If Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock embracing one another, in a bath tube, nude, in space, is wrong, I don't want to be right. |

Don't forget about sensor boosters. Pretty useless if you ask me.

pffft, more effects being lost to compensate for poor graphics performance. This will end up with us flying red rectangles vs blue rectangles if it carries on.

I'm not exactly sure what's up with shield hardeners on Sisi, but we're approaching the point of integrating the new effect system (with ported and reauthored effects in some cases). Shield hardeners will not stack under the new system, and general effects lag should be reduced.

Oh, that is bad news. Before crying out the wolf and whining about another nerf for Raven pilots, could you dev blog us about the whole picture?

They're still in, at least with the most recent test build.
Not very keen on the blobby shield thingie myself, to be honest. Think it'd look cooler if they used the hardener texture as animated extra layer on the regular geometry, sort of like armour hardeners/repairers used to look ... just a bit of extra sheen here and there :<

To be honest, I recon we should be adding more ship effects to the game.
Armor hardening effects would be nice, damn caldari pilots get to sit around outside stations with their tanks running, posing and looking all tough.
As a person who cares not for the whole massive lag, omg snipe fleet battle scene I think it'd be good to add more damage, turret, and offensice module effects to the game.
People cal always turn them off if they don't want to see them, or their systems can't handle them.
Eve's graphical engine is stunning enough, but with some TLC it could be something VERY special.

i think redundancy meant the effect wont stack, not the module wont stack. Running 3 shield hardners atm turns ya ship into a big blue blob, if only 1 effect worked, it probably wouldnt be too bad

my personal disappointment was that the shield hardener effects were all the same colour - it would be nice if the colour modulated between red (thermal), brown (explosive), blue (em) and grey (kinetic), depending on which hardeners were active.
Of course, it would also give away which resistances were being hardened, but just do the same to armour hardeners and everyone's a winner/loser.

I vote the other way. I want MORE eyecandy. I could care less that your circa 2001 box lags in a fleet battle. Mine is bored most of the time. I want more candy. You have the option of turning all effects off. I don't have the option of turning effects on if they get removed from the cleint.
I want armor hardener effects back. I want hull damage effects back. I want to see body parts flying everywhere when I blow up a transport stuffed full of marines and hooker.. er damsels.
Don't penalize me because others have slow machines that don't run any modern DX9.0c game at playable framerates.

Are you sure you want to do that?
I've been in some bad Fleet lag battles before so I feel everyone's pain but think of the small engagements.
I've jumped into a gate and seen a Apoc setting there before and zoomed in on it to get a look at it's fitting. I can tell one sensor boster from 2 sensor bosters. I can tell blasters from rails on a megathron. I can tell how many hardners on a raven.
Yes it's a problem in 50v50 Fleet battles but it's VERY useful for the small fights.
When the effects system rewrites please consider this. I can't be the only one who watches this. _ ____ _______ _________________________________________________________
