Hello,
I need to do some stuff (EvE related and not) on a VPS.
Besides the usual requirements (Linux, decent bandwidth, CPU etc.) I have these constraints:
1) It has to be fully managed with CPanel 2) There should be an option to get backups done from said panel or, better, periodic host company backups. 3) It should support root access 4) It should support using memcached, APC etc. 5) It should support installing and using a VPN.
Any ideas? I tried some, like i.e. Hostgator but they lack 2, 4 or 5.
Thanks in advance. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

Drop the cPanel requirement and there's suddenly a whole load of options available. (cPanel is terrible anyway) I personally really like vps.net. Decent pricing and very good support when you need it. |

I used budgetvm.com they are good have a few data centers mainly in the US. 1 thing i have experienced is Ubuntu is not stable on their systems better to use centos as my Ubuntu system went down for no reason for 3 days due to an issue they have running that OS on their virtual systems. number 2 in your list is lacking for my plan at least but i just backup the main config files manually onto my PC so if it goes down i can restore it in a few hours. |

http://www.lowendbox.com/ is a good place to look for offers at the cheaper end of the VPS market. Not sure if anything there might meet your requirements but might be work a peek. |

Virpus.com Fairly cheap, although cPanel adds to that cost.

Hello,
thank you all for your submissions.
I got an additional requirement of having to host on a cloud VPS service, so the options quite shrunk down in number.
ATM I am oriented into vps.net, if only their sales dept was not so terrible.
Also, they ask me to:
- pay on UK pounds (I live in Tenerife - Spain, so I'd prefer paying with Euros or dollars).
- pay some > 10% V.A.T. , my island's V.A.T. is exactly 0% for international transactions. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

Linode seems very good but while not incredibly superior in price vs performance to other offers, they have quite expensive backup offers and otrageously expensive management solutions. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

This is because the company is British. They're pants-on-head stubborn about accepting anything other than GBP as currency, and subsequently the VAT thing: Your international transaction means absolutely diddly to them, as they are British, you are required to pay the British VAT. (Yes it's moronic, but that's life in general)

Well, actually:
- They ended up accepting USD. No way to accept Euro, but I would not accept that garbage, vastly overvalued currency as well.
- They created the account in manual and let me skip the VAT.
I had similar issues with Italy, where they insisted charging some dumbtarded 21%+ VAT and I had to pray to the Bernanke gods for that VAT to be removed. It's cool to live in a 0% VAT country... until you deal with all those who are plagued by it and feel like everyone has to be slave of the taxes to pay their over-engorged state inefficiency and wastes. Hmm, I had none of those problems... Must be something new, I've always paid in US dollars. (Yay for euro-dollar conversion.) |

Dunno if OP is still interested (or anyone here) but contact me via eve-mail and I can get you in touch with a good VPS host. We host our ts3/jabber/websites off them as well as I host a bunch of other non-eve related projects. And you can get cpanel done if you like. |

didn't know if it was allowed, couldn't be bothered to look.
Plus if they were wanting a setup similar to mine, i'd have to give them my name so that the host knew what would be needed.
But whatever, here's my referral link
VPS is Ramnode |
