Flying logi is one of my favourite roles in fleets since years, but there's a lot that could be done to improve the tactical decisions and relieve frustrations. Here are some ideas me and other logi pilots have on our wishlist:
- Advanced Broadcast Setups - Just like you can choose to only see certain shiptypes in your Overview, this would be great to have for broadcasting as well. Increases the tactical decisions (T1 logis can focus on certain types while T2 logis focus on other, RR ships could focus on only their own type, different squads could have different tasks, etc). It also removes the frustration of finding yourself locking up a Rifter when you're trying to save dying Faction Battleships...
- Broadcast Tabs - Just like overview tabs, you could have different broadcast settings for different tabs, making it easy to find what you're looking for without needing to change the settings back and forth. Both in combination with the Advanced Broadcast Setups, but also for having Shield/Armor/Cap/Target set up differently in different tabs.
If you could choose to stack/unstack them as windows as well, it would be great. (If tabs aren't possible, at least remember last used setup for that shiptype.)
- Ignore Broadcasts from player - It would be really nice to be able to right-click a broadcast and choose to ignore broadcasts from that specific player. It's WAY too easy to disrupt a fleet's broadcast history as it is now. (Btw, even chat-blocking a player doesn't stop you receiving their broadcasts atm.)
This would need a menu option in the Broadcast Settings to clean the ignore list too.. :)
These ideas could be useful for people receiving target broadcasts as well, but I focused mostly on the logi aspect here. |

it would be nice if there was a "non critical request" like when you're being shot by a single small gun battery or some frigate or a drone is shooting you. you can send a non critical armour/shield request and they know that you only need one shot or maybe a shot every minute or 2. |

Yeah, that's something I would love to see too. :) Would also be nice to have a "Pre-lock Me" broadcast to show that you're broadcasting cause you're about to be hit heavily but haven't taken much damage yet (like when the whole fleet locks you up). That way the logis know that they might need to keep you locked up instead of thinking you broadcasted by mistake. Maybe a generic solution could be an extra broadcast button which you can name as whatever you like. (Yes, some people will use it in silly ways, but would mean only one extra button to keep track of.) An alternative to having the broadcast message be decided by the individual pilot could be to have the Fleet Boss set it for the fleet. |

Reading a newer post on this topic today, I also liked an idea suggested in this thread to show both the name of the pilot broadcasting and what shiptype they're in. |

While logi may or may not be too powerful, which I will leave to someone else's decision, logi pilots have a difficult and demanding job that happens to be immensely critical. Anything that makes their lives easier gets an automatic +1 from me.

I like the ideas alot because atm the broadcast system is ancient, dull and I think it can be improved. Maybe even a logi overview for fleets where you can see health bars (In a eve sort of way ofcourse)
Because of fleet sizes its hard to keep an eye on the entire fleet and you are entirely dependant onyour fleet members to broadcast for reps. I envision fleet members getting blinky or somthing like a glow in space or in your overview to alert that they are taking agro.
I do think you need to be carefull to not overcomplicate it with to many buttons for broadcasting. |

An update to the fleet broadcast UI is in order. Very klunky and slow. No way to adjust easily. Currently one has to click through 2 menus and manually search down and select or deselect checkboxes to change one's broadcast receive selection.
What OP proposes would make things a lot easier. Once you have your broadcast settings, you could save them and then recall them quickly without having to do everything over again and hope you didn't miss anything. Free Ripley Weaver! |
