Very useful guide, but a couple of points:
NPC trading: If you are lucky and keep your eyes open, it is possible to make about 20-40 isk per m3 on 1-jump or even insystem routes. No, I won't tell you some.
On the subject of below-mineral-price module sales, one possible reason is that the modules were got for free by collecting rat loot - and that person may have no refining skills and/or poor standing with the station he's based at, so gets rid of them for whatever they will quickly fetch. Another point here is that if you can only have 5 orders, you can't afford to have them cluttered up - so sell the stuff cheap!
An example; I have 75 1mn afterburners that I got for nothing off rats. I sell 1mn afterburners, and haven't actually made any for months, because the collection from rats easily keeps pace with sales.

Don't forget that people - players - can be quite lazy and decide their prices like: " I'be just finished building a Kestrel... hum how is the market: ho, someone's selling a few ones 150k... I should sell mine 149k so people will buy mine instead of his." And afew hours later they are quite satisfied with their wallet being fatter by a mere 149k." I suppose most beginners do this mistake. I know I did.

Heh, I wonder how the Viper feels now about the economy. A single point to make, that isn't covered by the replys.
Not all minerals bought and sold are used for profitable manufacturing. So, driving the prices down of premade modules will not have an effect of driving down mineral prices.
This includes minerals used to make outposts ( those that aren't NPC bought). This includes minerals used up in making a corporation combat hangar deeper. How many stations in a region would I have to visit ( and haul away from in a frieghter) in order to get 2000 frigates? Much easier to set up large buy orders for minerals, and manufacture our own. Convienience matters a great deal.
There is also time of year vs number of players, mineral prices seem to be up during summer, drop in winter etc...
You can also tell when a mass banning of macro miners is having an effect... Wasn't there a mass banning a couple months ago? People have used up their supplies, and are now buying.
Dread production is also having it's effect too. How many besides me are stockpiling minerals for tier 3 ships coming up ( big mineral price spike for a couple weeks then too)? Of course, if the price hike continues, I may just sell and go back to mining:D Join channel: "Eve University" or read here |
