there really needs to be a way to save equipment configs that you use for your ships. that way when you die or you need to do a quick swap of equipment, you can just load a preset loadout youve saved before.
would really make things easier, especialy when your killing rats/mining with the same ship and you need to run back to a station to refit

You can select multiple items, right click and there wiull be "fit all" option that does exactly that.
To make things faster, you may want to buy some standard containers, one per fit. put all ingridients inside, so that you could just ctrl+a and then fit all..
However, now it does not work because "Strip all" strips inside the hangar so you will need to spend lots of time moving just stripped items from hangar to the correct container ...

make it an option for your home station.
If you fly in and out often changing setups make one station your home. Your ship setup items get taken from your items hangar and stored as a tab in the ship fitting settings. You can drag items to and from your various setups without the ship necessarily even being there, and have multiple setups for each ship. then when you bring the ship back you click 'activate ship setup' on which ever tab you want.
for example:
various iteron 5 setups
afk mining :- DCM II, mids full of cap regen etc, lows full of Cargo Expander I's
High sec trading:- mids have afterburner, cap regen, local hull conversions in low slots
low sec trading:- 2 wcs, 3 nanofibers, afterburner, shield resists
when the iteron dock you have the option of activating anyone of those setups. You will never forget to switch a local expander out or whatever.

I don't think it should be limited to one station...
There should be a new interface, alike to the bookmarks one. Below I'll try to suggest possible solution.
This is a list of "item types", which accepts dragging from the market or from any container. Dragging adds to the list one instance of "item reference", which basically represents item type, like the "market quick bar" does. It should only be possible to add items to this list if the character has skill to use a dragged item.
This list allows for creation of folders, like the Bookmark and People interfaces do. Each folder represents a fitting. While at the station with fitting capability, each "fitting" folder has an option in right click menu, "fit this". When it is activated, first the following things are checked: a) if all items in "fitting" can fit slot-wise b) if the character has skills to use all of the items listed c) if all of the items listed in "fitting" are either present in hangar or cargo bay or already fitted.
If all checks have passed, the refitting is done - first all fitted items non listed in "fitting" are stripped, then all non fitted items from "fitting" are fitted, and activated if possible.

What I do is make a can with the name of the load out and have a copy of the fittings in there.
doesnt worj for the very expensive loadouts, im not made of money. but does for most things.
The bonus is that you can take a screen shot and save it.
And the otehr bonus you have another ladour for when you need it.
