Securing the future of dust nicely after microsoft announces that all users will have to be online once every 24 hours to play any games (to an overwhelming uproar of long time xbox fans), they can NOT sell or use previously owned games all while the kinect spys on you all day every day, BARGAIN only 450 dollars!

Been subbed to him for a while, hes getting married soon and got himself setup to go for an operation to try and get rid of his excess fat. Seems he's been dealt a hard hand with diabetes and a few other issues.

I don't think CCP had any choice regarding the Xbone. CCP approached both Sony and MS regarding Dust 514. Microsoft didn't like how an Xbox game would have to communicate with non-MS servers and how that violated rules that all Xbox games had to follow. Microsoft also doesn't like free updates. Since Dust 514 would break those rules, it wasn't allowed.
Sony had similar rules for the PS3. Since Dust 514 would break Sony's rules, those rules were removed. |

Releasing for PC would mean no free R&D cash... Much smarter they way they did things.

Yeah its a shame that his impression is so good the trolls go for the bait and harass him. Well this is the internet i suppose, kinda literally asked for it in a way, perhaps he should have thought of some sort of disclaimer at the end.
I found that the new xbox focuses A LOT on live TV so i guess is litterally being directed at all homes for media center use that also plays game, unlike the far more reasonable PS4 aimed at gamers for the use of gaming.
Oh and also, the new xbox always listens to your conversations in case you say xbox on, and want the needy son of a bee sting oh and by the way you cant use the xbox without the kinect plugged in. *tinfoil*

In the end, the PS4 might sell in noticeably larger numbers, but I seriously doubt it will ever go to much more than double of what XB1 sells. Currently preorders are pretty much on par, contrary to what you'd expect given the critical backlash.
2. I have no idea whether Sony helped CCP financially in any way or not (hopefully yes, but I would not bet on it), however that's wholly irrelevant as to the target platform - CCP simply could NOT do what they wanted to do with DUST in collaboration with Microsoft, because Microsoft would not budge on the "internal" rules (basically, Microsoft would NOT allow CCP to have the type of game world interactions that are possible on Sony's network).
3. If you really pick PS4 because it's the lesser of two evils, why not take the third option instead, stick with just a PC ?

i cant play dust on my PC, i assume i will be able to play dust on PS4, so thats another tick for the PS4! :D

Yes many will buy any xbox thats ever released on pre order, remember how many of those are gifts and such for others who "love gaming" and out of whos left - how many actually listened to the E3 reports and such, i bet a WHOLE BUNCH just went for it blindly - this is not a good way to prove its an okay device compared to the PS4.
I expect a mass boycott of the already very squeezed gaming community, at the xbox fussy requirements and blatant inclusion of highly unpopular technologies just to squeeze even more cash in the future. Consumers have a smart brain collectively, look at CCPs lesson in "do what we tell you and like it" vs listening.

Only if it has the exclusives. Treat developers badly, they won't make you games. If developers don't make games for the gaming platform, it will die.

Oh, and according to another Forbes journalist:
"In talking to a developer who wished to remain anonymous, gamers will see a difference on Day One when they compare third party PS4 games to Xbox One head-to-head. The developer told me the PS4 is 40 percent more powerful than Xbox One and games like Call of Duty Ghosts will be noticeably different out of the gate."
The new Xbox just keeps looking better and better each day.

Even if they get nothing else truly worthwhile as an exclusive (which is doubtful, as the "VIP developers" WILL be treated nicely enough), the Halo franchise alone will sell a good number of units already, with its rabid fanboy following.
Underwhelming hardware, silly restrictions, treating some devs badly, that's still not quite enough to tank it.
XB360 already was heavily outperformed by PS3, yet it still stayed on par sales-wide. Devs were already treated worse by Microsoft (not so much for those that committed to exclusives, but that's kind of the point). And the PS3 was and still is less restrictive than the XB360, so not even that is a big surprise.
So what really changed exactly from the XB360-vs-PS3 days to this upcoming XB1-vs-PS4 debacle ?
They're actually closer in terms of performance now, and Microsoft is putting even more restrictions than usual, but other than that, everything else looks quite similar to what we got used to for the past 8 years.
Again, basically, not that much of a chance for a long-term upset, even if nothing changes from what we already know.
Sure, the HARDCORE gamers probably will go in a vast majority to PS4, but that's a cup in a bucket, not the majority of the bucket.

Well what with the Xbox One doing a 180 and removing all DRM and region locks due to the epic shitstorm its got to be said that since gaming went mainstream the consequence has been a more flighty customer base than the hardcore crowd.
Looks like a 2 horse race and if I'm not much mistaken PS4 now has worse DRM than the XB1 since MS backtracked.

I keep hearing this conspiracy about CCP needing sony money, first of all we have no idea if CCP got money from sony, how much,etc. Secondly we don't know if sony is taking a cut out of the pay 2 win features of failure 514, thirdly from looking at the game engine, and graphics it must has been fairly cheap to develop. I'd like to make one last point, CCP is making money from eve online they already have 450 employees, I am pretty sure that these employees are on payroll, so the myth that they needed money is that.
You can tell by the incarnia update most of the station walking stuff came from dust 514 development, so they used EvE dev time to work on dust, and then imported dust features to eve, and it doesn't bother me. I think CCP will eventually integrate both games, maybe we'll be able to have atmospheric flights and pvp on the ground.
When the DUST is settled, everything will change.
