Curious to see what other's thoughts are on optimum 2-man PvP teams and why. I ask from the perspective of someone who runs two accounts at the same time. Also, I recognize there is no perfect setup for all situations.
One approach might be pairing a long range with a short range config; e.g., a Moa and a Thorax. The counter argument would be either two long range ship configs (but how would you tackle?) or two short range ships. I've never tried 2 Thoraxes or 2 Moas...which could be effective. My drone skills are good on both accounts (until the pending changes, and I'm sure I'll have to retrain some stuff) so atm I could get 16 heavy drones in the air with 2x Thorax hulls.
A Ferox and Thorax can also be effective. Thorax can handle tackling, the Ferox missile spams/jams. I've had most of my success with this one.
I have tried running a BS and a BC at the same time (Domi and Ferox) but they are so darn slow. I easily handled a 2-pirate team that jumped me in this, killed a Retribution (2x webbed, scrammed). This combo is effective and durable, but not a lot of fun. Targetting time is also an issue.
I am close to being able to fly Gallente and Caldari Assault Frigs, so that will open up some great new combo possibilities.

Not that I think plans essentially work in eve or are worth time to think about them but Deimos and scorp sounds nice for heavy prey. You could also camp with Blasterthron and Scorp or ranis and tempy or gangeddon x2 or geddon and scorp or geddon and Domi or 2x ranis or since gallente and ammar are uber pair together an impairor and a velator 4tw :)

(Gank-)Blasterthron + Helios/Buzzard (you need the CPU for probes).
As for why: This Megathron doesn't have to worry too much about speed or tanking. You'll land within "you are dead"-range, meaning you can fit a web and 2x scramblers in med slots leaving the last one open for an EW module or a sensor booster.
The Buzzard/Helios can also run EW support if you've got very good coordination and are slightly suicidal.
This combo has been proven to be extremely successful. In fact, it's rather silly in it's success because you are basically guaranteed a situation you can handle, and the target will often be unaware/afk. (It's essentially as powerful as a 2v1 situation more often than not)
If you plan on doing sniping, then go for Istvaan's recommendation.

2x raven > anything... look at BE :) Perhaps only 2x domi can pwn better :))))
Anyway, good inty pilot + megathron = pwnage, but in the end you achieve same carebear killer effect with 2x rax.
In the end you will get no definite answer... me & friend like phoon + mega... or munin + deimos or... damn everything is cool, you just have to get in situation to make it cool :)

I knew someone who once used a geddon and a bb with two accounts, at the end of the fight they were like that bb pilot is good were did he come from?
