it is looking more and more like this is the case, sadly i think it will be justified in the name of storyline...
since when is practically giving corps 2billion isk a week called storyline?

So despite the confusion of what really happened, does this mean that my main character, which started as a research character, will never actually be researching any new technology? If everythings handed out or achieved through drops or agents, what good is researching aside from 'modifying' existing blueprints. Awkward that technology can randomly come to be w/o anyone anywhere researching it to a produceable plan.
If these rumors are by chance true, i wonder which GM i'd have to make out with to get a miner III when that time comes...

Edited by: Kimi on 09/08/2003 23:25:32 "Then a GM screwed up even more and gave them a Miner II BP in exchange?..."
Actually, the GM's gave out not one, but TWO miner II BP copies. One is selling on the trade channel for 1.45 billion. (As far as I can determine, there are NO original miner II BP in existance, just the two copies).
They made one screwup, which was an honest mistake by an artist dev that did not know any better. The problem was that they more than compounded the problem by giving out the 2 Miner II BP copies "as compensation". They made a small mistake into a major one.

I think they should have done this:
Set up a couple RP events with "Jove" and hand out one or two Miner 2 originals to roleplayers. At the same time, put 10 or so on the market in various regions (one or two in each region), along with other tech 2 items such as afterburner 2 etc. Randomly distributed in the market.
Also, they should have set up some pirates to drop other tech 2 bp's and gear, with a % chance, and announced in "News" ("Reports are flowing in that some pirate hunters have discovered convoys carrying rare tech item blueprints in Sansha territory")
All these methods should have hit the LIVE server at the same time. OR, possibly, in two or three synchronized batches, so that people in different time zones have equal chance at participating in the gold rush.

Edited by: Stront3h on 09/08/2003 23:36:41 I too have only been playing since retail. My 5 other friends that played have since stopped due to the lack of content. However, if this is CCP's idea of how to introduce content, then you can kiss another account goodbye.
Is this game just going to be a case of beta buddies?
After reading these boards for a few months now, tbh this looks like "SNAFU".

Edited by: Dre'ntyn Corbol on 10/08/2003 00:11:59 wel as it stands now Ruffles has quit, i believe two of my members are next, I lost one earlier due to the splash damage bug and now all this.
I bust my ass mining to bring in 250 mil in a week. For a small corp with usually only 4 on this is in my mind acceptable.
Giving such a powerful means of generating billions to one single corp, has completley screwed everything.
I can't see anyhting positive coming from this, this compounded with the constant problems with CTD as of late, may have been the proverbial straw.
oh well i guess my 12.95 will help pay for my nicotine.
You go now. ho-k?

even if reverse eng is in the two corps with bps have a RATHER unacceptable window of oopotunity to make in excess of 1billion isk each which is imho rather ghey..
and yes sutty says reverse eng is in on chaos, but then again so are mobile refineries and player stations and lots of other stuff that hasnt made past patches so dont be holding yer breath.

Hopefully CCP will announce exactly what they did with these BP's. I for one would like to know and I'm fully of "theories" as to how they were brought into the game. But they're just my own theories so instead of screaming FIRE in a crowded theatre I'll wait for some official word.
I'm sure if they were given out in the Jovian deal we'll see more screaming about favoritism, cheating, exploiting, investment deals and all sorts of other accusations.
As we saw earlier with the Miner V deal all the conjecture about the Miner V being:
1) Looted from an exploding ship. 2) Found in Venal. 3) Looted directly by TTI. 4) Given to TTI by a "friend" GM. 5) TTI cheating, lying and exploiting. 6) So many other theories I cant even count....
All proved to be incorrect?

all of the theoris though did hold one common element which was TTI so in some way all the theories were correct :)

Sigh i had such high hopes for the potential that research could bring to this game now with this being done. Expect to see the entire market become extremely inflated with prices since the Corps that got given the winning loto ticket Will be able to buy anything and everything they could possible want.

Edited by: Dre'ntyn Corbol on 10/08/2003 00:44:12 Please explain to me how it is whining to be upset about something that I invest my time and money into? are we not allowed to have opinions? are we not allowed to be concerned for the integrity of the game. When there is an imbalance in the game do you not post so that the devs cant adjust accordingly. This is no different.
If this was an exploit, every gamer would be just as Irate, but because the ignorant masses cant see past the end of their ibis's windshield, and realize that TTI or whomever owns the BP has just became the 2nd most powerful force in Eve. the Dev Team being number 1. So tell me when even there noobs have battleships and you get podded for disagreeing with one of them. Will you Whine?
You go now. ho-k?

Easy solution, don't buy the miner 2's or the blueprints until after the patch.

TTI got the BP for the Miner II as replacement for the "dropped" Miner V... GREAT way to remedy a situation like that...

hmmm.....my guess is that the bp were a trade for the lev 5 elements in game, those in possession of them given monopoly untill they are generally available....hence...next patch... monopolys are/will be a part of this game....personally think this was an ok solution.....I'm not playing this game to owning every item ingame or make the most cash....I play to have fun

I'm not touching those damned lasers. They may mine faster but at 5.5 million each I will never see any returns just loses. Might take hundreds hours before your Miner 2 beats out your old pirate dropped miners and by that time you would have either lost them, sold them or have them replaced by even more expensive and superior models.
I think I'll wait till their price goes down to levels where I can actually have a return in my investment at this life time.
What are you going to do? I'm going to kill them all sir |

I think those Jovians arent done with him. Maybe those BPs have a limit or something. Another thing is, whoever is dumb enough, would have to be a complete ass to buy one of those miner IIs for 5.5mil. Sure for the big corps, whats 5.5 mil? But when you think about it, if you dont buy the stupid laser, the price will inevitably drop from the lack of buyers to a decent or somewhat decent price. total profit for these guys is 5.48 mil. Kind of insane for a stupid mining laser. Just get a few drones instead of paying that fool so much.
im just totally disgusted with this whole affair. ----------------------------------- about:blank |
