Just had a discussion with a friend on our top5 greatest gaming achievements. So dont be shy tell us all the top5 greatest things you have ever done in a game (doesnt have to be eve) My 5. 1: Having someone say '**** its >>enter my real character name here<< run run run' (In eve when i turned up during a fire fight.) 2: Being the Greatest Streetfighter that ever did live 3: Having ub3r l33t skillz in any FPS 'Booya' 4: Being able to complete Doom on the hardest difficult without being hit (playstation version) 5: In Counterstrike when i was a terrorist in Italy i was camped in the hostage building on the first round with my pistol - the terrorists charged the CT (never understood that on Italy) and died i was left fighting against 8 or 9 guys and won. by completely outsmarting the lot of them. Everyone who was dead bet all there money that i wouldnt win. I had everything from Wow that was amazing to HAAXX motherfu**er has HHHAAAX.

1. Getting Elite status in Elite. 2. No, I'm the best Street Fighter. 3. Scoring a Domination Webber yesterday in loot.
Can't think of any others atm. maybe I should try harder.

Hmm, I can really only remember one.
Return to Castle Wolfenstien.
I usually played an Allied Sniper. It was the Tram map. The one with a lot of fog.
I was happily sniping away, I was leading one enemy with my rifle and he went running into the fog, he was totally out of my sight for a second or two. I just kept leading the rifle & fired. I got a headshot of a guy who was invisible to me. I did see a blood splatter.
I had some ppl watching me play (Follow Player) They started freaking out, Great Shot! Yadda Yadda Yadda...
That's my most memorable FPS kill...
I don't even know how "great" this is, but it's one of the memories I have...
I don't have a "great moment" in EVE yet...

Elite Status in elite well done. But no i'am the grand daddy master of Streetfighter. --- Yes i know who Thresh is 'to strike repeatedly' What do you play now, and under what alias. I'll keep my eyes open :) --- Firing off a round at a player you can tsee but no roughly were he is. Is one of those gaming moments that make you go 'Yes' this happens all the time in Counterstrike but shouldnt be cheapened by the fact it happens alot - Cos most are blind luck - If you meant the shot, congrats

Edited by: Galk on 18/11/2005 13:52:19 Well i turned into a fps junkie around about the spring of 98.
Quake 2 was the game, greatest ever, never forgot this i pulled off the rail shots of the century on minos once, one of those fluke shots for 90% of other people, one of the many for me, but this one sticks.
Dm6, the lava pit, the spinning cog, i was backing up being chased down by a rocket touting guy, all i had was cg with about 50 rounds left in it, low on health, i pulled a monster.
Jumped on the cog backwards, jumped onto the rail pillar backwards, changed up, jumped forward back to the cog, nailed 4 in a single shot that droped for the megahealth, span sidewards, jumped back off the cog the other side and nailed the guy chasing me in mid air while somehow i was dodging his rockets.
Greatest feat ever in my mind, though the time i had this 7v1 on q3dm6(spit) and won 70-6 something was quite a feat also... and i wasn't that great at q3. ----------- When they asked me if i knew you, id smile and say you were a friend of mine.

I too much prefered UT to Quake. For the level design along. When Quake 3 and UT came out i balked when i first saw Quake's level designs those floaty platforms stuck in the middle of nothingness with springing pads was just ridiculous. It was so lazy. UT was far better. I remember backing my first headshot - come on its classic now - HEADSHOT!

You have to be joking.....
Well there were reasons i never liked q3, one of those was the map designs, total pap compared to the genius designs that had gone before in quake 2.
They outshine Ut by a country mile, dm1/2/3/5/8 all genius, nothing ut offerd or anything else has even come close. ----------- When they asked me if i knew you, id smile and say you were a friend of mine.

I'am talking about UT vs Quake3 - i thought Q3 map design was absolutely awful - not just the layout but the very graphical look and quality was terrible. UT had many brilliant maps.
I never played Q2 online so i cannot compare them and UT.

Q2, Best ever FPS for FFA & Team online mayhem...
Q3 was ***, but I still prefered the movement & gameplay to UT.
HL 1 & 2 own them all as the best FPS for single player/puzzle/strategy. Although honorable mention for Far Cry here...

Jumpboot-hammer "trick" in UT left me with some good memories when I played CTF on public servers... also predicting correctly a shockrifle combo was always neat, especially during tournament matches.

My best ever moment was one time in Allegiance. We were stuck in a large team of noobs along with a few experienced pilots.
We are down to one system; the opposition has conquered all the other systems and has forced us into one remaining solar system where we are seiged. With control of the other systems, the enemy could use their superior mining and technical resources to build more powerful vessels than we did.
In that one system, we quickly built up as many bases to restore our technology and build vital fighters for our teams.
Around the entrance of the stargate, we laid lots of mines, plenty of mines all around.
Then they came, capital ships like cruisers and destroyers, covered by healing scouts that can remotely repair their armor into perpetuity. Right in front of the minefield they arrived. The mines blew, and many got podded. Many of pods escaped as they were too close to the gate, no doubt to dock to the nearest station and get fighters. Orders are strict not to podkill the pods , lest they get an insta clone-ride back to a starbase and remount into a new ship.
As the minefield got cleared by the exploding ships, and the enemy got another starbase just behind the gate to quickly remount into new ships. No more time to setup a new minefield, even though some Scout ships desperately tried to lay more mines.
Back again they came, this time with fighters, bombers and troop transports that could capture our bases. The battle turned into a desperate dogfight as our fighters and interceptors fought them tooth and nail, chasing down every bomber or transport making a beeline to our bases. We would send streams of tracers and missiles right up their tailpipes. We would ram their ships to put them off course. Some bases are captured; we captured them back with our own transports.
We fought them for like 3 to 4 hours. My joystick was sweaty, my fingers began to numb. We were disciplined enough not to blow enemy pods to prevent them from instant respawning back at their bases and let them enjoy a long ride home.
At the end, we called it a draw as we are both too fatigued to continue.
There is a saying from Sun Tzu that describes it best.
On Death's Ground, Fight!

Hell for fun when only 3 of us were on we would do 3vs rest of server and would still win. Good old RS Days miss them .

Edited by: Wrayeth on 19/11/2005 12:18:23 Um...you know, the sad fact is, I haven't done anything in EVE that could be considered "uber" or "damn, that was badass". Most of the times that I could've said that about were "almost" scenarios.
Like earlier tonight when I jumped my tempest into system just as The Fiddler from BoB warped to the gate in his vagabond. I proceeded to open up a can of whoop-ass on him, but couldn't hold him down because I couldn't get into web range (which would also have affected my hit ratio, too, and possibly allowed me to bring him into smartbomb range for even more ownage). Eventually, he got out of scramble range and warped off. Just one of many instances where I almost did something cool. Ah, well...maybe one of these days.
As for other games, I used to rule the skies in the Battlefield: 1942 mod Desert Combat. It got to the point where I was winning two-on-one dogfights, and sometimes even three-on-one depending on how many aircraft there were on the map (DCNoFlyZone ftw). I was also pretty evil with the chopper at one point.
Sadly, I've yet to play Battlefield 2 - that would require...money...to buy the game. :P -Wrayeth

Playing the Predator arcade game at university. Heavily under the influence of LSD and amphetamines and totally thrashing the top score by a considerable margin.
Then finding out about 2 days later i'd spent around 3 hours on the machine and fed it about 20 quid in doing so. (It was only 30 pence a go)

Eve-Online is the only online game I've ever really played, basically because I found it and it has everything I want in a game.
I'd have to say that all my efforts in Eve have paid off so far, and the best things I find I'm most happy with are appearing in local and having people recognise me everywhere I go, some of the people I don't even know sit there, like "Hey, it's Verone, how you doing mate?" and spending like 30 minutes chatting away for no apparent reason.
I also feel that I've made a big achievement by managing six weeks of back to back ransoming without losing a single toll for release. That's something I'm pretty proud of too.
That and the fact that everyone I've killed/ransomed/extorted ISK out of in game I have treat with a civil and responsible attitude.
Of course... that doesn't stop the hatemail flowing in

Wolfenstein enemy terrotory, ahh yes i remember the day, was a covert-op on the german side of the fuel dump map. I ended up killin 50 odd people with only 4 deaths. Very cool digusing yourself and stabing people in the back
next would probly be my good old homeworld days, playing mutli-player in a 3v3 match, one of my teammates died within 15 mins as he jsut flew in with everything including mothership annd dies, the other lags out and exits leaving me with 3 players to kill, after some hard work, ended 2 of the players leaving the last guy but his excuse was that he needed to go and so left...
would have more but ive been playing eve too much and i seem to have forgot that i played other games befor

1. Number one has to be that Netstorm match I'll never forget. Netstorm is, to put it simply, like command and conquer with floating islands and bridges :D. The aim is to sacrifice the enemy high priest on an altar in order to gain more power (extra tech ) to use in future battles (it's online, by the way). The guy had my entire island surrounded and I was totally boxed in - no way to build out and no way to destroy his units but I had enough storm power (like money) left to keep rebuilding my island's defences for a while. Of course, near the start of the match, I had built an air ship, had it pick up a spell and move into the corner of the map to hide. When my island was surrounded, I took the air ship over to his island while he was busy building more guns around my island, cast the spell on his priest, picked him up and floated him safely to my island, where I sacrificed him at my leisure and therefore won the match. After the match, the guy was screaming in the chat zone about how he won because I "cheated" and used a spell instead of destroying every unit he had first. That was awesome.
2. Almost beating the #1 Master of Orion 2 player in the world on my first online match. It was pretty close.
3. Being accused of cheating in counterstrike. There are three levels of praise you can get, in ascending order: "Good shot", "Woah" and "CHEATER!". In actuality, I was a lucky bastard :p.
4. Quake 2 (popular choice, it seems). I used to play on this server that liked to run custom maps. For the first few months after they were out, I was always #1 on the high scores for the map since I was good at Quake 2 and quick to adapt but everyone else had just practiced the standard levels so much.
5. I was pretty much the #1 Stellar Frontier player in the world until I quit playing. I could probably skill kick everyone's ass on it :). It was an obscure game sponsored by Stardock. They have since dropped the game because it was rubbish and never updated. Development ceased and it just faded into nothingness. It's still there, though ^^.
Nice thread :).

Tribes 2. The score is a draw. The commentator is counting down from 5 for the matchtime left. I am falling towards our flagstand, flag in hand, using jetpack to make small adjustments.
I touch down in literally the last second. The next thing all 64 people hear... "Victory, Blood Eagle!"
Followed by many W00T's in radio chatter as the next map loads. That was the definition of chuffed.
Also Raven Shield, killing the whole enemy team with 1 grenade. -omg-

1. In Action Quake (popular mod for Quake2), in the map "Urban", 7 ppl in the other team were all camping the rooftop. I managed to get to the stairs leading up to them, throw a grenade and kill them all!! ... (omg i miss those times)
2. Action Quake, (again), i managed to kill 3 people in one snipershot, all in the head. (no they were all moving, not afk )
3. Completing "The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time" completely without cheats/hints/walkthrough. Then im not talking about beating Gannon, but getting all the hearts, all the insects ... everything. That did take f**king long time.

Being called a hacker in: C&C Generals ZH (On multiple occasions) CS:S (A few times) BF2 (M24 headshots!) Soldat (MP5k!)
And of course on no occasion have I ever hacked in any game.
Completely dominating a round in BF2 as Gunner in a cobra helicopter. I had about 80 some off kills when the round ended. People underestimate the INCREDIBLE OWNAGE of the TV missile. On that note. killing a MiG who was mid flight with that same missile.
Traveling all the way between the two major islands in GTA:Vice City with 5 stars in a banshee. It's REALLY hard not to run into a tank.

Only one thing springs to mind.
Playing Natural Selection years ago, running through a corridor to a double res, when 3 skulks rounded the corner. I fired off my LMG into the pack, killing one, pistol whipped another, then knifed the 3rd. I had a HUGE grin.

i accidentally made a TK in counterstrike (source) and i offered, as recompense to give my guns to the victim next round, and play that round with just my knife - no armor/nades/pistol.
in the end, i was the last man standing on the map, and had killed 3/4 of the enemy team with just a knife.

Edited by: Lluthiunne Atalaron on 21/11/2005 10:43:18 Its funny lots of people here have commented on how being called a quote 'H4xoR' is a compliment. Its a running joke when my friends around how long it will take me to get banned from a CS:S server. My records 5 in one night. Jumped up little noobs with admin privlages are one of my pet hates. My current record is 44 kills to 0 deaths in aztec - i took a screen grab for proof. They werent bad players either.
While i'am on the subject it pains me when people complain about how folk play the game - as far as iam concerned anything goes as long as its not cheating. But the folk who complain stop camping when 'you' are the terrorist defending the hostages and its you versus a team of 7. Its stupid to run out there all guns blazing. Instead i out sneakify (tis a word) them all. Its a game full of cry babies.
Almost forgot and this is quite embaressing cos ive did it twice. I completed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade - a truly great arcade game - i did this on holiday and while putting my name in at the end. GAZ - i accidentally got *** :( I got the highest score in Time Crisis the original and still the best version and while the crowd watched i rather smuggly fired out my initials only to again bang out the letters G.A.Y. ive never seen a crowd of little boys move away so fast in all my life :(

I have completed EVERYTHING EXCEPT
1. two trailer take downs in a race event 2. two tram take downs in a race event 3. 3 signature takedowns
In burnout 3 takedown...
Has anyone got this 100%? if so, what are the best maps for number 1 and 2? I cant find a decent map.. also what cars did you use?
Another thing about this game.. I was on vacation this summer in PA with my friend I met at a summer camp a few years ago (he is the one who introduced me to eve a few years ago) anyway, I was using that crappy hotrod, trying to do that one map in under .. 1:50 I think it was.
had been doing it for 4 hours straight.. about to freaking lose my mind becuase if you crashed ONCE the entire race, its over. This helped me master lots of driving skills.. anyway when I won. I jumped up, screamed as loud as a could, ran around the place like a ***** head, hitting walls and the celling.. I had made it in 1:49:73. was so awsome..

1. Obtaining the Lionheart in disc one on Final Fantasy 8 and using it on the bosses to great effect. 2. Saying 'if this -7 guy comes by the station gank him!' in local channel instead of gang chat, priceless :P 3. Getting Knights of the Round in Final Fantasy 7 after many many tedious hours of Chocobo raising *shudders* 4. On Raven Shield I got out an LMG one round on Peaks and just randomly emptied it into some bushes in the distant and killed two peole who proceeded to saying 'omg' 5. Making some friends fly on battlefield 2 after placing C4 on a bin somewhere and waiting for them to run past it.

1. In MoH:AA, on Omaha Beach in multiplayer, was using the scopeless Garand M1. I was on the beach and aimed down the gun, up to the cement bunkers and headshot, 2 shots, 2 kills. 2. Battlefield 2. I managed to get 3 kills with a single rocket from Anti-Tank. I fired into a Black Hawk Helicopter, killing pilot and both gunners, only to see the helicopter fall whole to the ground.(I then took it for a spin) 3. Staying alive in the Apache helicopter in BF2 for 20 mins. As the gunner, mind you. I got some sweet kills with the guided missile.

Come to think of it, having survived 2.5 years of this game from the very day it came online was it. Having to survive the very six months of this game, while its publisher Simon and Shuster turned its back on it, where the servers were so shaky, every jump is a potential stuck case, where playes were abandoning it in droves, when you log on to a server when only one to two thousand people were playing, where there are no missions for quick money, when bounties are so low while NPCs pack every weapons imbalance CCP has corrected since then, when there are no miner IIs and other super mining conveniences, when even 100,000 isk seemed even expensive, where the whole universe still felt like some kind of beta, when you don't know CCP will ever survive or find the money to run the game next month, six months of one of the worst MMO launches in history...
Yeah I survived through that.

1: EVE: Using a Codebreaker module on the Guristas Spy Information Nexuses in the Caldari COSMOS constellation and getting Guristas Encryption Methods skillbook on my first attempt.
2: CS 1.6:map cs_nmgas Using a Scout sniper rifle, last person alive on my team, versus 5-6 CTs. I hid in the large grass feild in the middle, and started killing the CTs one-by-one. A CT would occasionally run into the feild, but I would kill him before he could find me. I killed them all, and apparently I was hacking because I could see inbetween the blades of grass and they didn't look hard enough.
3: Alien versus Predator 2: I locked on to an alien at the bottom of a pit with the missile launcher and fired a missile. I hit the ground and died right in front of him, 2 seconds before my missile hit him.
4: Many different games: Pulling some crazy stunt that ends up getting me, half the enemy team, and a lot of my team-mates killed

2. Getting the xbox live world record on Big Surf Shores on burnout 2 with the Supercar. 4:51:119, and holding first place for over a year.
3. Losing that world record and dropping to 5th place, only to improve and regain 2nd position with my new account with a 4:49:6XX half a second behind first. Im still trying to close the gap.
4. Completing Total Annihilation on the hardest difficulty earlier in the year.
5. Getting a 24:0 kill:loss ratio on Mech Assault on xbox live, in a little speedy ship in a 8 player free 4 all in 4 minutes.
6. Winning the first ever (to my knowledge) "Cat and mouse" race on Project Gotham Racing 2 on XBL. The 8 of us came up with the idea and it spread like wildfire within a few days.

I promise you that beating the record i had is nigh on impossible, a hundredth of a second but no more. I played that one track over and over and over again. I knew it was possible to do it at that speed and not brake and i did it. Once i did i kept going until every lap was a perfect then worked on reducing the race line. The end result was that i could do it without thinking and i had a incredible low track time. I never played it gain once i did it though :)
-I once prooved to another UT2003 player that i wasnt hacking by shooting every single shock ball he fired out of the air. The bass on my PC was going nuts - i normally hit about 75% of them - not that night every single one of the little blighters.-
