Just out of curiousity I'd like to start a poll to see just how much stuff is being lost in the Eve universe due to bugs. This could also serve as a helpful warning to those unaware of some of these nasty bugs and perhaps save them from losing their stuff to the same bugs.
For example, I myself just recently lost 2 CU Vapor Bore mining lasers and a Surgical Strike book due to a bug in the courier mission. So here are some simple rules.
1.) List what you lost.
and...
2.) A brief description of the bug that caused you to lose your stuff.
Thanks for your help.

Nothing yet. I did lose a Stabber once when a GM moved me after I was stuck, but it was promptly replaced within 10 minutes of me informing him I was in a newbie ship again =)
Also, how is this a poll? There's really no poll options like 'a, b, c or d' :?

Xelios if I must give a definition for my use of the word "Poll" in this instance then here it is.

4. A survey of the public or of a sample of public opinion to acquire information.

I lost a scorpion battleship.
In combat, if someone uses sensor dampeners, it crashes people's systems. And that happend to me (i believe they exploited the bug on purpose) and lost a battleship due to it.
Incidentally, my CEO also lost a battleship to the same bug.

Quote: 1.) List what you lost.
One Maller (packaged up) when they were 7m each and five stamped heat sinks (total value at the time, 2.5m).
Quote: 2.) A brief description of the bug that caused you to lose your stuff.
The courier mission name bug.
If you enter the name of a pilot into the "restrict" field but do not hit the search button, the contents of the field are igonred.
This is so *even if you enter the full correct name of the receipient*.
As such, the mission is globally available. Someone else accepted the mission and I lost the goods.
CCP said no refund because;
1. the items are still in the game (which is bogus; it's a bug, CCP have an ethical imperative to return those items to me, and that imperative is plainly unchanged by the fact that the items now belong to another player - indeed part *of* the problem is they were stolen by another player).
2. it's not a bug
Yup, according to and by CCPs definition, what happened is *not* a bug. A bug is an *actual error in the codebase*. This problem is not an *actual* error because the code doesn't crash/bomb/fail, etc. This is supreme bull****, because it defines blatant interface errors as "not bugs". Imagine the interface was designed so that if you did *not* turn off the music before undocking, your ship blows up. CCP say - not a bug. No actual *error* in the code. That's just the way the interface is designed. Plainly, it IS a bug. The two should NOT be related. Likewise, when I put bloody text in a text field, EVERYTYHING I have EVER DONE under Windows and in Eve tells me that text should be used. It is not. The fact is *this is a bug*.
So I didn't get a replacement, and my opinion of CCP sunk a notch for their painful stupidity.

I lost a scorpion with equipment (about 96m) due to the cap bug and the shield booster bug (eats 2/3 of cap and shields). I was heavily armed, had plenty of defences and lost my ship to 20-30k pirates (it takes quite a while).
Lost 4m on an elite clone. Had 1.5m pts at the time, was looking at the elite clone and closed the window with the "x" button -- apparently this means "buy the clone".
Obviosly it cannot be proven beyond doubt that it was bugs because CCP does not log events sufficiently, so CCP feel in their right to shrug their sholders... hmmm :/

- One Bestower + one pod due to auto pilot bug. Could not navigate. Thank you ROFL and CCP. - One Thorax + one pod to the Surgical Strike & Damage Module stacking bug. Thank you Technolisa and CCP. - One Blackbird due to the sensor dampener bug. Thank you Ion Corp and CCP. - One Blackbird due to the can't warp with activated sensor dampeners bug a.k.a. wait 30 until warp or don't wait, which occures only sometimes. Thank you CONCORD and CCP.
My bug free losses in comparison (mostly own stupidity):
- One Bestower due to NPC pirates. - One Thorax due to NPC pirates. - One Incursus due to sentry guns. - One Blackbird due to BGS corp.
Maybe I've forgotten something, I lost only one Blackbird being a pirate at SI and haven't been podded once since then :P. ---

You believe wrong here. I feel sorry for you to lose your battleship in this way, but SI has lost some more ships in this way, including one I did lose. Only solution to this is to not use any of them on expensive ships.
You have had a Sensor Booster, Setec had a Sensor Dampener and while activating both, you, he and Mastema crashed.
Blame CCP for it and no one else and or blame you for trying to toll Setec 200k and blame us for sending 3 Battleships and 2 Cruisers to prevent this. Your choice. ---

I once lost about 98% of my HP on a Moa due to a CTD but thats about it.
Lost plenty of Imicus/Bantams in the early stages when ninja-mining arkonor.
I've lost plenty of stuff to my stupidity though - recycling items needs careful attention to detail

Lost a few million minerals when tried to split them into 2 piles. Dunno what bug that is but they vanished completely. Had to re-mine it all.

Edited by: Nightwing on 10/08/2003 12:18:38 Lost a Maller, 2 Counterbalanced Gun mounts, 2 650 scout's and other rare stuff...
Lost it warping into a belt where 3 Beasts were waiting. Screen freezes for 30 secs and I "Finally" get there to no shields, half armor, Jammed to heck and back, scrambled, and all 3 beasts within 3Km.
(Killed 2 beasts, was 10K away from last one almost dead and finally raising shields when the final missile toasts me...)
Prior to this event (which was 2 weeks ago) I hadn't had any problems warping into a belt for over a month...

Edited by: ****o on 10/08/2003 14:01:41 I lost 50,000 mex due to the exact same market bug you mention, callas.
What was even stranger was that as soon as I noticed the recipient (an alt) didn't have a "named" courier mission available (i.e. within seconds), I checked on the missions straight away, and the "bugged" mission never showed up for me to take it anyway.
The goods seem to just vanish into thin air, with no mission created. I've petitioned, and been told another player took the goods. How, exactly? I was straight on the missions channel looking for it and no mission was ever posted. Seems very odd to me.
Sort this one out, CCP.....
