Today while changing a buy order for a 350mm protoptype rail I mistakenly typed 2 zeros instead of one. It happened that i matched a seller order and this wasn't weird at all. What was weird and what shocked me was that I actually bought the turret at my crazy price and not at the seller one. Result: 23mills more than the offered price. I tried to contact the seller in chat and eve-mails with no success. I hope he eventually will recognize my error and give me back my money. I'm ready to loose isks to pirats and ore-thieves, that's part of the game, but loosing money due to typing errors is behond my understandings. It's simply not logical to me.There should be a confirmation-window for prices exceeding the region average. Should I make a CCP petition?

the morale? Be more careful Seriously dude, no point to petition. CCP wont do anything, as it wasnt a bug / server error, just you being dopey.

You will not and should not get your ISK back.
And you should not petiton it, as it was your mistake... You'd be wasting valuable GM time IMO... ------------------------------------------------ Current Hobby other than EVE |

It could be pentioned as a window should show if anything is over 50% of the regional price.

I'm just reading answers by people who shows pleasure by exploiting others mistakes. Lucky for me the guy who sold me the overpriced gun is a respectable and fair pilot and he sent back the money in excess just five minutes ago. Honour to "Q Son", that's his name. I'd not say the same for the ppl who answered.
I'm sorry you did not get my point. I'm not mother english so I hope to explain it clear. I usually make stock trading as hobby. Well...if you type a wrong ask price what you get is that you buy shares at the first bid price, never at your wrong price. That's the bug i'm complaining about, not of course the request to cancel my mistakes. It's so obvios to me that i can't figure out how that was no coded in eve.

Edited by: Nyphur on 22/11/2005 10:08:09 It's not a bug, that's how buy ordewrs work. They fulfill the lowest sell prices first and you get to choose what price you want to pay. They aren't intended to really resolve on the spot unless you're buying something from the sales list, in which case you've selected something at a certain price to buy. They don't expect you to make a buy order for over the price of any sell order since you can just buy that in that case and if you do it accidentally, it's your mistake.
The game isn't set up to counter people's mistakes. If you accidentally put an escrow up for 0.0 isk, would you expect to get it back?

well...if you typed in an extra zero, you increased the price tenfold. so there WOULD have been a warning. i'm amazed you got your ISK back. why did this dude have it at that price in the first place?

he didn't. If there's 1 shuttle for sale for 10,000 ISK and you make a buy order for 100,000,000 ISK, it'll buy that shuttle and pay him 100,000,000 ISK since that's the price you said you're buying at. When you make a buy order, the first thing it does is gobble up anything already on the market that matches your order details with equal or lower sell price to your buy price.

Edited by: Magnum III on 22/11/2005 11:20:29 I think he was honorable in giving you back the money, I would give it back, it is more important to be honorable.
Also you have a right to ask for a mistake to be corrected, some people a glad to have the chance to be honorable.
