Stars. Everything about stars is fascinating to me. it's very romantic to think that stars take the most basic and readily available element found in the known universe and create all the other elements over millions of years, and then spread them across the universe in a violent death.

The sheer magnitude of it. It's practically impossible to comprehend the size of space, but it's fascinating to try.

Actually you probably could detect a fart in space. In the vacuum the gas would spread out really far so there would only be very small concentrations. But since there is nothing to stop the moving gas you could smell it lightyears away!
And if you would scream when you fart the soundwaves could travel through the gas! So if you actually do hear someone scream in space, you know that someone farted! |

That beautiful feeling when you look up.
There is no question in my head that other life exists. When you look at the vastness of it all, the chances that our planet is the only life holding entity is vanishingly small.
Every time I look up at the stars I KNOW that life is out there. It's almost a religion for me. That we haven't found it yet is irrelevant.
My golden dream is to go and watch the Northern Lights - I am looking forward to that very much. Aaaaaaand relax. |

Or would the gravitation attraction of the gas particles on each other cause them to form cloud? That is, sort of congeal into a mini celestial body? Which, if close enough to a star or planet, might fall into a perpetual orbit? What a mind boggling concept-- the creation of a new celestial body!
But seriously, anyone know the physics on this? |

That once, if we ever get that far without killing ourselves, we have the means to colonize planets in other star systems, we can literally migrate from ignorance, frightening levels of stupidity and 'MURICA Inc.
I personally hope we get together and kill ourselves though in one last grand party, like World War 3. I kill kittens, and puppies and bunnies. I maim toddlers and teens and then more. |

Can somebody answer my physics question in post #19? About whether methane released into space would keep spreading infinitely, or coalesce into a micro-planetoid? |

Wrong, while methane is present in its atmosphere, it consists of largely of hydrogen and helium. Allow me to be frank. You will not like me. You will not like me now, and you will not like men++ a good deal less as we go on. |

For me the possibility to retire somewhere else so far and alien from this Planet I could finally have a modicum of peace and mind.
What I have always enjoyed about space, is how in fiction there is always a splinter group of religious fanatics, anarchists, criminals or even bizarre humanitarians or wealthy tycoons wanting to carve out a new order of things free from the bonds of Earth and the sheer stupidity that is our modern life.
A place to flee , hide and then grow away from the social trends, media, money and trappings of current civilization.
I have moved/lived somewhat around the Globe, enough to understand that it-¦s not the country, but me.
I honestly want to get the hell out of here. Even In Eve I have moved over the years all over the place. Can-¦t stand being in the same place for more than a couple of years nor tied to any kind of entity.
Space is my only choice at this stage
Yay!
