No irony. If you read *carefully* you will notice that he is pointing out that especially as a dev, one should not try to define piracy or what it comprises. he didn't state anything about right or wrong.

It isn't about fighting fair or taking on a fleet that comes into you.
It is about isk vs reward. "pirates" actually LIVE off of piracy, eg. making enough isk to pay for our account and leisure purely with the revenue of killing people.
If pirates would be stupid mongrels engaging everybody coming towards them, they would soon be unable to sustain their piracy because it wouldn't be profitable.
also, it is specifically NOT about fair fights. everyone can decide that for themselves. piracy is about winning; killing you, your friends, extract your tears, and get some isk.
