gee, just as the outrage over the miner II episode is reaching its peak, lets have a jove invasion! lets not give out an explanation over our obviously inept handling of TL2 implementation, lets just send out a jovian gank fleet, problem solved....brilliant!

Really, now if the Miner IIs could take the sheer bordom out of mining, then you might have something! But really, like it matters? 11 more units of rock per minute? WOOOO! HOOOO!

I don't think that's the issue. The thing people are upset about is the corp who was personally given blueprints for these tech 2 miners is now making billions off them. If they had been found fairly in loot or something there'd be no problem, as everyone would have had a chance to get it. But they were personally given to this corp by CCP in exchange for a tech 5 mining laser that never should have been in the game in the first place and was worth FAR less than the blueprints they now have.

Edited by: JAXX on 11/08/2003 04:10:08 Really? I thought they had to Trade a miner V that they paid a very high price for. Or should they just be out that too? GO make you millions off something else..everyone else is.
And the miner V thing, was a mistake on the artists part, and that was explained, chances are due to their sheer numbers, TTI may have found the BPs anyway or paid the price to buy it from someone who did.
Can't we just move on? more tech 2 BPs will be coming out soon and everyone will have a ***** at finding them. Personaly, I hope to get my hands on weapon BPs I could care less about a crappy mining laser.

TTI should have been compensated, but trading a more valuable item for a less valuable item is not the way to do it.
I couldn't care less that they have the BP, I do care about the future of EVE though, and one mistake devs of an MMOG should never ever make is to directly give a player or players items that no one else has if they weren't earned "fair and square". That's exactly what CCP has done in this case and I can only hope the uproar it caused will keep them from doing it again in the future.

I really liked the way AC did their events. Some did get special, truly unique, items but they most definitely earned them :D There was also equal chance for everyone to hunt for the clues ;-)

I'm just a nodoby, TTI making billions doesn't effect me at all, if anything it's a good thing and might lower prices. Sure they screwed up, and maybe this wasn't their first choice as a fix? But seeing as TTI paid fair and square for the tech 5 laser, i think it would have turned out worse if they just took it away. Introducing tech 2 items like this isn't such a bad thing, it's just not the best. _________________________________________________________

Edited by: Turtle on 11/08/2003 04:45:25 I wonder? How is TTI making billions. Are you telling me that your going to layout 5 mill per lvl 2 miner for 11 more units a minute. Sorry folks, I only see one idiot here and that is the people paying for it.
If you can't get over your ****** Envy maybe you don't belong in a game like this. Someone will always have something better than you and have more Isks than you.

More ppl don't give a damn then those that do. It is just that those that do cry the loudest.
The rest are playing the game like me starting on my 3rd battleship and blowing things up for fun . Or robbing ppl dry like you .

I'm in the "Dont give a stuff" catagory with the Miner2 issue. However I have no sympathy for the ones buying them things, for I'm gonna wait a few weeks till the BP is avalable before I waist my money on them things.
Why buy now and support some mook's scam when I can wait a few months and use the money saved to by the BP.

I couldn't care less about 11 ore units a minute.
What I'm cheesed off about is the half billion these folks made from all those people who wanted 11 more ore units per minute.
Sure, you might be working on your third battleship Wretch, but these guys are on their fifth after a couple days.

Yes Shollos they seem to be quite good at the Wag The Dog tactic.
But then if you check my posts for the proper term, they are dubbed the Wag The Dog, Damage Control, Distraction team.
I wonder if Mr. T is available these days.
I'm still compiling data on the shuttle blowing up. Sure was one hell of a distraction wasn't it, but it sure turned attention away from Iraq at the appropriate time.
Perhaps just a co-incidence.

No Setec you're not the only one. As was said before, I pity the fool who pays 6.5 Mil for something that takes 30k in minerals and a few minutes to produce. Those are the idiots that are making TTI or whoever billions.

"I thought they had to Trade a miner V that they paid a very high price for..."
They did. They paid 55 million (a battleship) for it. However, they are selling the BP's for 1.45 BILLION each.
Minor discrepency there.

Keep in mind there is more then one Miner 2 BP out there.... SO the Monolopy is no longer 100% in their hands.
There will still be a few dollars to be made buy the corps that owns them, but this is a good thing.... This is what eve is about... We do not need another case of 1000 Corps making the same ship of of copies...
We will all get our chance in the sun

Why dont you give a damn setec?

you dont have to answer that.

Does not mean a thing. Just because we are in an alliance together does not mean that we get any kind of dibs on their stuff. In fact, we don't get any special "deals" on anything from them. It is just business as usual. Hell, my corp gets it's bships from Techell a lot cheaper then TTIs discount rates.
We are a military alliance, not a closed economy where we all hump each other.

so the richer get even more so... SO WHAT

And I, its a ridiculous storm in a teacup. And yes besides, though my corp is in a military alliance with TTI, and yes, though I write press releases for them and handle public relations for the Venal/TTI pact ... I would never dream of buying a 5m miner unit ... its crazy, and believe me TTI discounts are really nothing to write home about.
I'm with Wretch and Viceroy ... free market is great ... Techell gets my vote for top discounts in Battleships ;) Love and peace

I care, mostly because this is a sign of thigns to come from CCP (and TTI). Just imagine for a few minutes Setec if you were at war with a corp who was suddenly handed the means to make billions overnight... that would basically ruin your fun no?
There's tons of small corp struggling to get into battleships while other groups are almost finished supplying their whole corp. Then you take a leading corp and give them access to billions. Kudos to TTI for being a successful corp but this sort of "gift" is an insult to us all.
Here, have billions to replace this 50 million... ffs.

To be fair to TTI, most of the time they will meet others cut throat prices with those in the alliance (or try to). Also, TTI is different from most corps in that individual members are their own ship builders. One TTI members apoc may be cheaper or more expensive then another member in TTI producing them as an example. It's kind of a neat corporate set up.
It's all wheel and deal. Of coarse having a military relationship with them does help influence a better deal in some situations. But you would be suprised how hard it is to get a good deal from them. It's like trying to squeeze and elephant through ones ass.
