Things are heating up in the eve universe. Tech II is being released, the jovians are visiting but the universe is still being run by various warlords under the guise of alliances. What i'd like to see is a G8 summit, with all the leaders of that alliances (whether they are pirates or miners or traders) coming together to make decisions for the good of the universe.
I would have been interested to see what happened if G8 had decided NOT to kill the jovian on sight and talk to him first (especially since he didnt open fire on anyone...). Misunderstanding and racism is how wars are started.
What do you alliance leaders say?

Remember who fired the first shots!
Remember who killed first!
Remember who has unnatural intercourse with Satan's Technology!
Then speak to me of peace and moderation!

It sounds like your "coming together for the good of the Universe" is also coming together for the bad of the game. You want peace and collaboration between all the big players in the game world? What kind of fun is that? We need more large-scale hostility, not less. Action is excitement. ___________________________________________

Coming together for the bad of the game? Or do you mean for the bad of the pirates? I just want to see decisions thought through first without everyone going in all guns blazing. What if we have missed out on the opportunity to welcome our jove brethren back into the community? Personally I would rather have helped the jove find their sick brother and return him to jove borders than simply kill all the jove sent out to find him.
Oh and I crave excitement as much as the next Minmatar

peace and goodwill between alliances will never happen. Because it's no fun, and there's no money in it.
What *is* fun on the other hand, is SA opening their gates to all and sundry, and then killing them all*. This is the kind of thing that keeps the universe ticking. Intruige, subterfuge, and deception.
The manufacturers would all be up in arms if we all stopped losing our ships/weapons, and if we didn't need ammo.
I already have a garage of cruisers and frigates that I haven't managed to lose yet. Each ship I haven't lost is money taken from the hands and wallets of manufacturers
*not all.
I hereby declare an amnesty on peace. There will be collection points set up around the galaxy, please come to one of them, and drop your notions of peace into the recycler. We will use the reconstituted peace to polish our guns. .

Never fear Setec my sweet, IĈd be happy to represent the free-captains of Venal at the "G8" summit, IĈm sure I could present our territorial aspirations and engagement methodology in robust and frank interchange. Not only peace comes from summits after all, and oftimes such meetings conjure true appreciation of the issues to fight in the name of.
Why don't you get the ball rolling lady Preacher and prepare an agenda and invites for the representatives of the big regional powers and signifigant industrial voices?
I believe such a forum may represent a progressive fractional development in a environment long stiftled by reactionary hierarchy.

You promised Venial safety?
Perhaps you should have informed some of the pilots...
Now you are just going to be viewed by the jovians as both trigger happy, and deceitful. You may as well become pirates .

Wrong, you saw a criminal being executed. You saw unlcean DNA being sundered back to purity. You saw a hero willing to face against almost impossible odds. You saw a miracle at first hand. The one thing you never saw was a dirty murder.

Jade Constantine, I am glad to hear Venal share my concerns about the development of the universe and believe you would be a valuable member of the G8. Your personal candour and honesty have graced these boards on many occasions.
I however have neither the wealth, corp standing nor people on my side to be a member of the G8 but am prepared to mediate and arrange the first summit.
Therefore, if the leaders of the alliances and leaders of the largest corporations (inside or outside the alliances) wish to be a part of the summit, then this is your time to act.

A few points of advice m'dear;
First ... I think you should draft a proposal and invitation and post it with explanation on the Intergalactic Summit forum ... there is less traffic there and the post will remain visible longer.
Second ... you should invite by name the various powers listed in Morkt's Defence Review as a matter of course. The invitation thread should include direct request for representatives of each power to make themselves known.
Third ... it would be useful to have a corporation closely aligned with national interests from each galactic power present; for example ... Oracle for Minmatar, Praetorians from Amarr, etc etc ...
Fourth ... you should certainly invite some prominent voices from smaller corporations to balance provide variety and balance.
and lastly,
Inviting suggestions from the open forum for discussion subjects for the agenda would open the process to democratic scrutiny, and allow the creation of a pertinent, zestful, and somewhat quirky roster of focus points ...
But then at least 'twould be little risk of appearing partial.
Love and peace
