My history is fuzzy on this one, was there ever any plans to introduce or have race bonuses granted to ship types? Example a Dominix would get a 25% bonus to drone damage if the char that flew it was Gallente. ------------------------- CEO of The Establishment |

I have dreamed of this for a long time....
I have a feeling such a system was originally thought of but i have no idea if it ever made it into the game.
Although maybe a training bonus to your races ships rather than a flat damage/ROF/whatever bonus to make things more balanced, eg a caldari can fly a megathron, and just as well as a gallente pilot, but the gallente having been trained from the beggining in gallente systems/propulsion/sensors, would find it much easier to move to.

I remeber this being mentioned when we started the game, don;t think it was in beta when i started but i only played beta for a couple of months and could have been b4 that. would be cool though, i know ccp wants racial specialization which is now done mostly by high end skills, whihc means you'll prob never gonna fly all ships. unless you want to spend all your sp there.
Too cut short, yeah bonusses 4tw

i hope that comes never - one advantage in EvE is - you can make what you want and dont has any limitation from your race. You can have the advantage if you buy a Implant that grants you a Bonus to your prefered weapon.

I would prefer a racial bonus to the training time of skills. Just 5% or something, to make a difference.

No, I dont want to see any racial bonuses.. There are alrady some bonuses for using racial ships (caldari ship, missile bonus, ammar lasers etc)
I created char because of its face and i dont want to sacrifice one for another.

Edited by: NaitSaiht Sabes on 24/11/2005 21:31:50 I think it would just be logical to have bonuses in a ship of your own race... imagine a broad caldari in a*****pit designed for the slim gallente... maybe he wouldn't even be able to press one button but always two or three at once bacause his fingers are too big
Ok.. now you can say that everybody sits in the same version of pod... then let it be the "brain compatibelity" to the ship (you think an amarrian brain works the same as a minmatarian?)

I agree with this guy, I hope it NEVER makes it into the game. I love being race X and being able to fly race Y without something as inane as a penalty or bonus.
I try not to make analogies with real life too often, but how would you feel if Japanese people would be better drivers of Japanese cars?

...If you bothered to read the original story, we're all descendants of the same SPECIES. Your brain and my brain have the same chemistry - what is different is our cultural background, the way we've been taught to think.

Are you sure?
Yes I "bothered to read" - I don't now exactly the time since the colonists have been seperated from the earth and each other; adapted to different worlds that they called their new home... I think difference in gravitation, cosmic radiation, environment and thus mutation and evolution made them different enough to take racial bonuses into consideration.

Edited by: Lord Ziggy on 25/11/2005 20:25:15 if we did get race bonus to ships, i would lose out on about 4mill sp, becoz even the smallest bonus would mean me just using amarr ships to get the most whack out of my ships.
i fly amarr and cadari HAC's plus galante and minmatar BC's, so i would lose alot.
what my be an idea is to bring in new skills, a set for each race like with weapon specialization for eg amarr light craft specialization, witch would affect all frigate types and destroyers, amarr mid-range craft specialization, witch would affect all cruiser types and BC's and then ammar heavy craft specialization for BS.
these skills would give 1 or 2% on top of every ship bonus, and would have a rank between 16x and 20x so that its not a skill that can be trained in 5 days and everyone has it.
anyway, sorry about that, i think a standard bonus to your races ships would be bad, but thats my idea of a way round it that might keep everyone happy

i posted on a related topic regarding crew, racial bonuses for flying your own races ships should definately be included. race selection should be more that a portrait.

What i suggest is instead of race bonus cuse i made my char based on looks too. What I suggest is skill leakage for a better terms. For example and plase don't rip me a new one for my example Cruiser lvl 5 I know somepeople have this trained to lvl 5 but doesn't really matter cuse ppl move on to battleships. What I suggest is that if you train this to lvl 5 then an additional 1% gets leaked to the next type of skill such as the BS skill for each lvl trained. So in thiscase a lvl 5 frigate would leak to cruiser and battle ship giving the battle ship an additional 10% bonus. or frigate to cruiser giving the cruiser 5% more bonus. The logic behind this thinking is that a skilled that is a prerequ would make you think that you can make creative learning and allow you to apply previous knowlede to new learned skills.
This would in the end make basic skills even more important.

regarding the space ship command skills like frigate and cruiser adn battleship, it would make more sense if the skills effected every ship of the race that you can fly.
each of threee main ship classes (frig, cruise and bs) skill sgives a bonus to difference attributes but only to that class. ie frig gives agility bonus, cruiser gives cap bonus etc (i cant remember what they actually give so these are for example only) but its my understanding that each skill only applies when flying that ship class only?

Used to be they toyed around with a system of bonuses and handicaps during character creation. I guess they figured you had to make enough decisions without good knowledge with the attributes.
It's the handicaps I regret losing more than the bonuses.

I also created my character because of the looks. The other races simply could not produce the kind of look I wanted (even Caldari only came remotely close), otherwise I am totally unaffiliated to Caldari and completely devoted to Khanid. And even though I don't even fly Amarr (Khanid) ships, I would find a bonus related to my chosen home much more reasonable than a bonus for the race I picked only because of the picture. Maybe some sort of citizenship feature could come into play here.
