dunno about the validity of posting like this, but yeah - i've been stung on auctions - people not honouring listed auctions. is there an official stance on using the forums to list items, then not honoring it, be it as a buyer or a seller?

*looks at the forum* Wrong place, sparky. If you're complaining about bad conduct, why have you just posted in the general forum? "Corpse cannot be fitted onto ship. Only hardware modules can be fitted."

Well I had been misled to believe there was a general acceptance in honoring EVE Online | EVE Insider | Forums

Well I had been misled to believe there was a general acceptance in honoring forum posted auctions. People should be wary because as far as I've looked tonight, there are no restrictions or obligations to the buyer or seller. Just dont do what I did and trust the system. Verify it. Lesson learned.

Edited by: Plutoinum on 25/11/2005 03:00:42 Not the first time I hear of that. Afaik the GMs don't force anyone to sell his char after the auction. If he doesn't want to sell anymore, you have bad luck. I know that this happened already two times to a mate after he won the auctions.

It would give a lot more confidence to Eve players (well myself anyways) if they would enforce final agreements on posted auctions. Otherwise what validity do they have? What would be stopping someone from buying out any auction, and then delaying before the seller found out the buyer wouldnt pay? I could think of far too many 'less than ideal' situations.

This is what I get for trying to do something nice for a corpmate. My bad. I guess I did the wrong thing and I don't know how many times I have to apologize to you, I felt I was doing the right thing by giving it to a corpmate, he did contact me before you did after all. Again, I'm sorry for any inconveniences I have caused you.___________________________________

Some people really need to just stay away from auctioning if they can't get it right. If you can't play by the rules that you make yourself then there is something wrong. I encourage everyone to boycott any future auctions by Corto Maltese or KIA Corp unless some form of compensation is made to the victim in this. To Corto: Admit that you have done something wrong and try and fix it. Talk to Nix and try and work something out. Offer compensation if you must to preserve your honor and that of your corp.

Don't really see how something could be worked out. Whatever assets he sold to generate the ISK I'm sure could be bought back. It's the principle that's at question here and frankly it really irritates me to see auctions conducted in a non-professional manner. Though as it wasn't my auction, I should probably just stay out of it.

So far i've had 2 auctions not honored. Once for 2 bs bpos which I took buyout on and another for a 6.5km named smartbomb. Neither of these arses would return mails nor make a final post in their auction as to why they werent honoring their auctions.

The reason I posted this was because I'm extremely sick of people not honoring their auctions. I was really insulted by the way you handled all of this. At this point I'm assuming you already transfered the character... now do I want to be childish and make you do whats right and transfer it to me? No. You should have figured that out at the start, it shouldnt take the community ridiculing you to make you take action. This is over as far as I'm concerned. I will reserve my own opinions. One thing I'd like to say is that it was good to see the Eve community take interest in this, and push for the right thing. I really appreciate that. Seeing some posts in this thread gave me back confidence that at least our community can try to moderate these auctions. So my thanks. Other than that, in the future Corto, I hope you chose to stick to what you've said and honor your words.

While it is obvious poor form not to honour an agreement, I find it just as poor form that you (the poster) find it necessary to drag KIA Corp through the mud like you did. As someone stated a long time ago: Cry me a river Build a bridge And get over it.______________________ Coming soon...

As someone stated a long time ago: Cry me a river Build a bridge And get over it. Excuse me? As you saw in the chat, the only thing I stated was that I had expected more from KIA. My main has been around for awhile, and when I saw a KIA member auction, I automatically assumed honesty. That says a lot for your corp. I was dissapointed to be let down. Is that wrong? I think not. If you're upset what other people inferred? Well that was their own doing. My point was that I was sick of people not honoring auctions, and the forum auction system having serious holes in it. The only way to enforce them is through pressure via the community (as was shown in this thread). If you think my sole purpose was "to drag KIA's name through the mud" think again, you missed the point of the thread.

For what it's worth, I've bought a character from Corto Maltese (he may not remember me since I don't remember what character I used when I spoke with him) and the transfer went flawlessly.
