Medium Turret sig radius = 125m Heavy Missile sig radius = 150m
WTF? I think heavy missiles could be a lot less junk against small ships if they were brought on line with turrets.
I'm not saying missiles should be the same as turrets in every way. I just don't see the need for this nerfage.

prob it is becouse of the rof of heavy missiles is higher or becouse heavy missiles have flight time? or becouse of the launchers using to much cpu?

Devs have already said that heavy missiles will be looked at in the missiles thread (stickified). _______________________ Forums DSU |

I have sifted through most of the 17 pages of that sticky, but I haven't seen anything about heavy missile sig radius. ROF yes, assault launchers being 4tl yes, but I don't see why heavy missiles need to have a base radius of 150m and not 125m.

Edited by: Arleonenis on 25/11/2005 16:11:47 agree they should have sig rad 125m same i think cruise missles should have 250 not 300 as they are so easy destroyed by defenders, torps would be great at 350m sig radius (sig radius of minmatar ships anyone?) small missles need a look too, they should be bring to like 35m size of many frigates

Quote: # Heavy Missiles: damage per m¦ is being looked at and will most likely get improved to ~125m¦, to increase the damage per m¦ and place it between light and cruise.
From the very first page of the sticky on missiles.
Edit: From the very first post even.

Doh. When I saw he said cubic meters I thought he meant volume. Now that you quote it it's clear that he really meant signature radius in meters. I stand corrected, CVA.

Oh. I always thought he was talking about the damage they did per cubic meter of cargo space. Because a sphere with a radius of 125 m would actually have a volume of 8,181,230.8687 m^3, not 125 m^3.
Okay... I think I need a </jackass> here or something, but I don't think there's any non-patronizing way to do this.

Minmatar battleships are supposed to take less damage from torps.
Edit to be on topic: If you were to train, say, guided missile precision to level 4 (not that long of a train) the explosion radius of a heavy missile would be 120ish, 112.5 with level 5. If I did the math right anyway, I just woke up

Yeah, what I think he means by that is Missile Damage/Explosion Radius will be a base of 1.25 damage per meter.

Try this....
Medium Turret signature radius = 125M Heavy Missle signature explosion radius = 150M
Medium Turret signature radius with ANY skill at 4 still = 125M Heavy missle explosion radius with Guided missle precision at 4 = 120M
So...WTF what?

turret scan res, and missile explosive res are two very different attributes that effect each weapon class very differently, there is no point in comparing the two
the reason heavy missile sig radius should (and will?) be lowered because it is currently only 1/2 of cruise missile explosive resolution thus both weapons act very simular, giving no real advantage to heavy missiles against smaller targets than a cruise launcher.. by comparison a light missile has an explosive radius of 50m, if i recall correctly, so yeah it does need adjusting ------ If Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock embracing one another, in a bath tube, nude, in space, is wrong, I don't want to be right. |

When are they making the missile changes anyway?
IMO heavys are good for doing lv3 missions, you dont need to get in range to fire, in multi-stage missions for example, you just need to warp in, fly to the next gate while shooting at the rats. All the rats should pop by the time you get to the next gate, and repeat. With turrets on the other hand the slightly better damage is offset by the fact you need to wait for each swam to argo you and get into optimal (falloff) before you can fire.
