What exactly are these? I.E Are they just the normal t1 with t2 resistances + extra armour? Or are these having extra slots such as an extra high slot? Also, what are the extra mining skills?

they prob require even more skilz!
just get an apoc with 8t2 mining lasers and ull be fine mining ;)

The T2 Covetor has a few new skill-dependant modifiers, but the description does not reveal their effects and the dump is more then illegible regarding this particular property. Any idea what bonus what ship gets to what property?

The have a bigger cargohold, and more med-slots ++
And yes, they require more training.

I think the miners in the game are getting alot to make their life easier in the RmR patch. The T2 barges do have extra bonuses so that will allow you to mine more but you will also have, mining dmg mods which work in the same way as dmg mods but give you a mining amount bonus instead (low slot module). Then you have the gang modules which give 100% bonus to mining from what i can see. This might be why there is more mid slots on the T2's. I think they are called something like drone mining foreman, ore mining foreman and ice mining foreman modules.
The only problem i can see is people not bothering with the T2's just yet because if you mine with a large barge at the moment why would you mine in a T2 small/medium barge ? The T2 large barges require lvl 5 of the elite mining barge skill which i am guessing will take about 30-50+ days to train.

IŠve also the fear that the tech2 variants of the procurer and the retriever will be very useless. Except of the med slots and perhaps some skill bonus they are worse than a standard covetor.

On sisi they don't appear to require the Mining Barge skill at all 
I would have thought that this must change before hitting TQ, but at the moment the elite mining barge skill needs Spaceship Command IV, Electronics V and Industry V. The barges themselves needing Astrogeology V and Elite Mining Barge I / III / V depending on which one you going for.
Unless this is going to change, it then becomes more a case of what's the point of training the normal mining barge skill up!?! (for people who haven't done so already)

The Elite Mining Barge skills requires Mining Barge at lvl 5.
