Originally by: ian666 Hi All,
I don't believe Belhorn meant for this to a post about you did this, you did that otherwise he would have called it Plaicd Reowned,
Come on, you can do better than that.
Originally by: ian666 it was about logging when you have been caught.
Not every log off is deliberate. Client crashes and ISP disconnects happen a lot more than we'd like. If someone logs back on immediately it shows they didn't mean to log off in the first place, right?
Originally by: ian666 I for one am not into it, but if everyone else in the eve world is and CCP say this is a fair tactic then hell IÆm sure going to use it not as a cheat just a tactic.
CCP already increased the logoff timer which was a damn good idea. Anyone who deliberately uses logoff "tactics" (which I agree are lame) since this change is putting their ship, mods and pod at risk. Sounds fair to me.
Originally by: ian666 Whats the point in a clone really if you can just log and wait it out?
You can't. Two words - Scan. Probes.
CCP makes the tools available. You choose what tools to bring to the job.
Originally by: ian666 we could fly back get some probes and locate the pod but is it really worth it? they should put in place a check in the code, e.g if a ship was destroyed by a human and then the loser logs and the pod gets way then it should self destruct after 10 mins, giving them time to get back online if they CDT or Log, then you can just wait for it to return 10 mins is possible, also to stop them from keep logging in and out resetting the timer then make it only possible once otherwise the pods a gonna !
While you're at it, why not just make the pod self-destruct if the person who destroyed the ship forgot to carry probes. Do you want CCP to fly your ships for you too?
Originally by: ian666 Regarding the war with Placid Reborn , CEO Jalia Kovac brought that on her self, and the other 4 corps that declared on Placid Reowned sorry Reborn.
You tried to destroy us. Better luck next time.
Originally by: ian666 Your comment about us out numbering you makes me laugh, I believe once seeing 24 to 2 in local and I wasn't docked, just out skilling your pathetic predictable gate camps.
I don't know what you thought you saw but Placid Reborn doesn't have the pilots to field a fleet of 24.
Originally by: ian666 We war dec on your corp to even it up a little as your lame corp would either gate hug so the Sen Guns would help you out as you didn't feel 24 to 2 was already a fair advantage LMFAO, or station hug, such lame tactics as we are below -5.0 and you can could fire at us whereever you like so a War Dec made it an advantage to us and a big disadvantage to Placid.
War Dec = can fight in high sec. If you can't get into high sec it's not our problem. You can still shoot us in low sec if you like.

I'll explain this to you again ian666 since I can see there's you have a real serious issue with comprehending me.
The reason I have your entire corp blocked is simply that you talk far too much garbage in local and whenever we do show up in Iges (where you can be found routinely) you never come out to play. Unless you consider 300km from a gate coming to play - where we got covert ops to your spot, warped in and pod-killed two of you. Or perhaps sitting at a safespot - which we broke but were unlucky enough to never be able to get sufficient numbers of you there to justify attacking.
Here it is again for the cheap seats. WE ARE A ROLE-PLAYING CORP. Let me translate the key phrase you appear to be stuck on into 1337speak for you.
"Get out of Placid or face the consequences" = j00 r teh suxx0r!
This means an open invitation for hostilities. We don't like your corp's activities and are happy to shoot you and be shot at. Actually getting you out of Placid is immaterial. It's a trigger to get you jumping which apparently you bought into entirely, albeit in the wrong spirit.
Come to think of it, the very first thing your corp did after declaring war is relocate to Reblier in Verge Vendor. I would have thought it rather difficult to have fought us in Placid from there. Tempting us to fight you in Syndicate (if that's what you were doing) would be rather odd considering our name and mission statement. Not that we have a problem with fighting there per se - quite a few of us have spent plenty of time in 0.0.
Anyway, if your corporation was less "omgwtfhaxbbq" and more "good fight" I could probably stand more interaction. Since your only responses show me that you prefer to troll and grief, I really can't be bothered with you. Come look us up, war dec us, shoot us in low sec, whatever you want to do when can be civil about it.

LOL, O look it talks !!! Looks to me as if Placid reowned have something to prove? they certainly do, maybe you forget the point of the Post? you never were good at listening and the first person to mouth off was in fact you Jalia, and no we didn't employ MoC nore the other 3 corps that were after you, your own mouth bought that trouble to your self.
You did uncover our safespot ôian claps his hand, what an achievement, what you did forget is we also did some of yours, but i can't hardly call that an achivementö, but I think your turning this Logging Issues in to your own personal issues and avoiding the point if you have nothing interesting to say how about you stop spaming the forum with your petty comments. ian666 Yawns.....
Regarding the relocation to Reblier lol who told you that? you might want to get your money back as your source is wrong we never relocated just didn't play the hey were in this station come and camp it with all 24 members made up of corps from the Uphallant region as most of your corp wouldn't come from under the table.
now Susshhhhhh Plaicd Reowned and get back to being Carebears...... Please don't hurt me IÆm so scared !!!!!!
Now back to the logging Issues that Jalia Kindly showed is when her ship was taken and she ran under the table to hide crying please donÆt kill me I didnÆt mean it..
The timer still isnÆt long enough. CDT yes is a pain but we all have to live with it, a way CCP could detect someone who does this every time is to log each time they are engaged in combat and they disconnect, if it exceeds so many times in a month/year then a punishment should be enforced like a 10 min count or a instant pod destruction and you will need to petition to see if you are eligible for a let off.
I don't care if i get the pod just that people shouldn't be aloud to get away with cheating, heck if your a pirate and you do wrong you get punished so why not if you cheat?

Obviously we've hit a nerve here seeing as you've all got your backs-up about this. I was asking a serious question to EVERYONE that reads the forums and I was genuinely interested in what people think (I'm not as thick as you JUDGE me to be). If any members of Placid Re-Owned wanna ***** and moan about what I have to say then just talk to me directly instead of boring everyone else with your mindless excuses for not being able to finish what you started.
The only point that remains for me to make (seeing as our "friends" have made this a childish slagging match) is that as far as smacktalking in local goes, NOT GUILTY. I make factual remarks towards corporations and individuals that I feel deserve them, not insulting - FACTUAL. If the truth hurts, fly somewhere else.
Good Eeeeeeevening.

The only time I think it's acceptable to pod kill someone is when you're at war. But when you're just ratting for loot, don't be an arse and pod kill. It serves no purpose either than prove you're just being a dink about the power you have. Especialy since most people who get pod killed by random pirates are newbies and miners not even looking for a fight in the first place. This isn't pointed at anyone directly aside the weiners who actualy do this.
Just my opinion, but I'm certain I'm not the only one.

Has the system changed where you can't use the overview to warp now? With the exception of Smartbombs, there isn't much that can kill a pod if the pilot is ready to warp out the second his ship pops (unless you count lag), so I really don't see the need for anyone to log out to save their pod, especially if there is another ship with scan probes in local.
No, the overview is not very useful in getting a pod out. When you eject from the ship (or are ejected by its destruction), you loose the 'warp to' command from whatever object you selected. You have to find something on the overview, click on it, then click on warp to... Only once you're in the pod.
Of course, considering the massive lag hit (14 to 40 seconds for me, depending on the number of ships in the gank) when your ship blows up, and the time it takes to find another warp object, you've been locked by a BS and wake up in a station.
If CCP would look into the ship death lag then we might be able to escape. Of course, ships I blow up never seem to have this problem... their pods are gone before my inty can get a lock. That I owe mostly to bad latency through my idiot ISP... as is being scrambled in my pod while my ship is still in armour...

I know lag is always a problem, presumably down to the game being very demanding on all resources, which is a shame for the victim really because if I choose to pod someone, I would like to know that they actually had a chance to get away.
TBH I've always struggled to lock a pod in anything other than my Interceptor/Assault - they get away most of the time, at which point I would say "good for them".
Glad to see this thread has turned back into a proper discussion ;-)

Actually it is necessary to pod, Sometimes it means that the player has to travel a long way again to exact his revenge. Plus you need to get the victim out of the System ASAP. Else He can provide intel in a pod. |

I dont like logging in combat, but it is almost impossible to tell if is ctd or log. i think if u ctd u should log back in asap and face them, if ya get ur pod out then its fair play, if u ***** about with alts and stuff then before logging in ur pod then u suck

If you do not want the fight it is perfectly ok to log to save your pod/ship imho.. Why should I stay and see myself be wasted by pirates just becourse i accidently stumpled into them? They are not fair and I am not fair.. what are the difference?

Because it's part of the game. Eve is supposed to be dangerous. You are supposed to stumble unwittingly into pirates and be killed. Nothing in Eve is supposed to be fair. You take a risk, and sometimes it backfires on you. Logging in combat is cheating. So, this time you lose and you need to witness your defeat to make the next victory all the sweeter.
You know I'm right.

I have a solution to this never ending problem - if you don't want to be podded, eject out of your ship before it blows and warp away from anyone before they can target you. This way you are still in game and can get owned still.

Oh I love it if someone logs as it just means nice tasty loot after a quick session with the scan probes.
However people do genuinly crash to desktop and can't get back in, I've been in battles where half of each side suddenly goes and we've had to call a truce in order for everyone not to be killed due to lag.

No, It as much a part of the game to log as to be a pirate.. A pirate uses any means to nail the target in question why should the target not use any means to get away? If we are talking about wars etc. then it is another case..

Actually just 2 days ago i had somebody that kept logging in and out every couple of minutes. We had his safespot with a covert ops but he did not warp back to where he logged off. He was always 1mil km from us so we had to scan em again.
I think that the quick logging in and out has something to do with it since it was quite abnormal

Placid Love a good chat :-) I believe Jalia went home in another Pod last night? Really shouldn't try picking on someone who isn't below -5.0 at the Gate in higher than 0.0 otherwise you will end up like you did and have to buy yet another Tranis !!
As for your remarks Lord Drachenfels, why don't you just go the hole hog and log in a war also? you must live a very boring life, never taking risks, never trying to push it that little bit more. If you had half a brain in the first place then you wouldn't need to avoid pirates as you could scout or go with some decent protection? maybe take Jalia as protection sheÆs good at taking her own ships LOL, funniest thing IÆve seen for a while thanks Placid ReOwned.

LoL Lord Drachenfels - just to use what you said as an example... a lot of people treat this game as if it's REAL LIFE (for some demented reason) so let's say you were in the street and a Chav/Mugger/Lowlife (delete as appropriate) aka PIRATE decides to jump you (like being attacked by a pirate), they can do some real damage to you, but you CAN'T just close your eyes and disappear in to thin air can you, so logging is out of the question in my opinion.
As for Grant Smith, you win the award for the most pointless, brown-nosing, attempted crowd-pleasing post EVER. LoL

Now, being an ebil as often as I am, I feel I have to say this.
Who gives a damn if you couldn't kill the pod?
Let them log. Eventually that pod will pop and the lamer that probably paid $80 on ebay to get their implants will get their comeuppance. It doesn't have to be you doing it.
Really, piracy is for fun and profit. You can't salvage anything but a squidgy trophy from a pod, and while we all love killing them, there's no fiscal gain by doing so. Can't you be happy that you popped the ship and got the mods?
I never killed a pod as a pirate. Unless I was using beams, it just cost me a good missile/hybrid shot and a whole group of systems from which i couldn't buy replacement ships. Logging in a ship is cowardice, logging in a pod...who cares? The more CCP uses modules to resolve balance issues instead of systemwide rules, the more control CCP will have over how EVE works. CCP, please keep this in mind before swinging the nerfbat. |

I had a problem last night. While PvPing with a group from my corp we came along this one guy who we ingaged on. No sooner then he started to shoot me I CTD not once but like 3 times. When I got back on again he told me Ok I won't shoot you anymore everytime I shoot you , you CTD. I was a little disapponted buthappy he didn't decied to try and continue trying to shoot at me. I gave up trying to shoot him too. So do remember not everyone logs. I figure if I lose a ship oh well if I lose implants oh well its a game people are supposed to lose stuff, its part of the game. But if someone logs just so they won't lose stuff thats jsut wrong. Hopefully when I figure out why my comp was ctding I can enjoy a fair battle with this guy. We did sit and chat for a bit, really nice guy.

Edited by: Vargrh on 30/11/2005 03:02:08 Best tactic, either use a character on a second account or get a corp mate to fit a load of smartbombs and come sit at the point where the person logged off. log off youself. 9 times out of 10 the logger has addressbooked you and as soon as they see you log off, they log back on to escape. At which point Voila... smartbombed into oblivion. (eg they watch your online activity with their alt)
