Pretty sure this isn't new news, but I'd see a huge advantage to the players by allowing to search the market using a filter that displays your results via low, medium, or high slot groups.
Can't tell you how many times I had x amount of CPU/Power left over and tried to search for that perfect mod that would fit within the limits.
*edit* oops...wrong forum. Could have sworn I clicked on the other one...

the browse option I think, instead of searching, you can just uncheck show only avail and browse modules through the menu... O.o

Well yeah, I know you can do that, but the categories and subcategories won't show you which modules are low, medium, or high slot mods.
What I want to see is a filter next to the location filter. Say you wanted to search for ONLY low slot mods. You would select "low" and "region" from the filter, hit the button, and only modules that fit in the low slots of a ship would show up.

I guess no one else shares an interest in this.

By the time you can fly them, you'll probably have them memorized already. Unless they are tierII frigates or something. How many mids does a crucifier really have? Has anyone ever flown one?
However, a player made database which filters items (not just ships) by slot and cpu/pg requirements might be good for new players.
The old Eve-I site used to let one filter ships by mids or lows or whatever.

I think it mostly has to do with the fact that people know (well, should know) what they need on their ships. If you're at the point where you'll put *anything* on a ship, you probably need to learn more about your ship and modules to get the most out of both. :)
Far more often I've been in a situation where I've needed to fit say a Shield Booster, and had to find which named version of it had the right fitting requirements or which skills I'd have to train to push me over the ammount I needed. Any time I have "extra" CPU/Pow, I save my money and leave the slot empty. :) Than again, I have a ton still to learn so who knows! heh -- Lil Miner |

There really aren't too many different "kinds" of modules for you to learn. After some time you will just know what is what.
But some general rules... 1. Most shield modules, including any that are actively turned on, go in mid slots 2. Any kind of weapon goes in highs 3. Armor stuff goes in lows 4. Most items that are not activated and give bonuses (damage mods, cap power relays, PDUs, etc.) go in lows, with some exceptions, like cap recharger 2s. 5. Most items that give some kind of bonus (and aren't mentioned above) and are activated (target painters, tracking comps, etc.) go in mids.
That'll get you through most situations.
But I think that being able to search for items that will fit given your current configuration would be pretty cool. Something along the lines of a more general case, I have this open slot, and this much CPU, grid, show me what I can fit _with my given skills_ since you have to calculate it yourself for the ones you buy off the market. That'd be a pretty useful feature.
