OK give out your recommendations on what the first proper (tech I) module players should aim for.
Personally, I would say go for Afterburner. The difference it makes to travelling for a newbie is immense.
So what do y'all think should be first on the 'gimme gimme' list

Along the same lines, I was going to say MWD. But then, when I first started the AB did ~10% boost.

I guess that depends all on the path you're going.
Speed modules for travel, weapons for fighters, and bigger miners for miners.

It would vary from career to career.
I would guess between afterburner, expanded cargo hold 1, and mining drones for an industrial character.

Afterburner and Small Shield Booster for everyone.
And learn Eng, Elec and Mech I so you can use all the basic mods.

Propulsion Jamming.
Also, Engineering.
The rest is just window dressing.

The first module I trained to use was an armor repairer. Early on that served me very well. The second most helpful mod was the afterburner.

The Capacitator Battery (micro) was very helpful to have in my first frigates... 2nd only to the AfterBurner with the Small Shield Booster on 3rd...
Might still be a noob, but it seems very helpfull... (especially on warping)

Without doubt afterburner, the tutorial forces new players to travel alot. Too many players who are giving up on Eve might be doing so simply because the tutorial does not teach them to train it from the start. They have to go through 5-6 missions before even being recommended to train it.
