A question: Is there a reason to why I can't get back at someone at a later time (hours/days) without getting penetalized for it? A simple scenario: Someone pods me, and then runs. I wake up in my home-station several jumps away and I don't have a chance to get back to him in time. I bump into him the next day at a gate but then I can't do anything without beeing penetalized with a sec-status drop and getting fired at by the gate sentrys. Shouldn't I be able to attack anyone that has attacked me for longer then the 15min time-window when he is flagged? What if the one who attacks me was aggro-flagged for everyone in 15min but for me personaly like a couple of days? Would that work?

Edited by: Farjung on 29/11/2005 13:23:51 Heh, pretty much exactly what you're proposing is being considered for the Red Moon Rising content patch around the corner I believe. It's called Eye for an Eye. Read about it somewhere on this page.

Any idea if the contract is transferable? I wouldn't think they'd do a newbie or career miner much good. There weren't many details in the blog. __________________________________________________

Unfortunately, the changes mean that pirates will be forced to pick on weaker targets to avoid retribution. I always enjoyed attacking tough targets to see if I could win, but now I can't without the risk of getting jumped when I'm shopping for a new ship.

Don't say stuff like that, now you've made EVERY pirate come off as a carebear. That is the way people think. I don't like most people very much.

Well, I don't care what people think about me or pirates or whatever. I know it's important to a lot of people that they appear manly or whatever, but my continued survival makes me happy enough.

Edited by: Mr Jay on 29/11/2005 23:05:28 So if you're attacked by someone (me, for example), I kill and pod you, etc.
Then... 1 year later, I'm flying through some system, and you can then freely shoot me without a sec status loss/sentries firing, etc?
People would have to make a note of all the people they shoot at, so they know who can shoot them back without cause.
Silly idea, to me.
Edit: The 15 minutes you get when they're flagged is long enough.

It's like that, but not quite that bad. The victim "only" has a month to get back at you. It seems there will be a page on the character sheet that will keep track of who you're allowed to kill, and possibly who is allowed to kill you.

is it a real eye for a eye for say someone kills my ship, i can kill his ship and pod,or is it i can only kill his what he killed of mine ie he killed ship i can only kill ship.
and since they say kill i think that only means pod since u dont die if u loose your ship. some help understanding if u would. |

Thats what i was thinking. It wont make much difference (if i understand correctly) to most < -5.0 pirates as they are perma-flagged to everyone anyway.

Hmm... I am -10, anyway.
I still think 15 minutes is long enough. People I know wait 20, just to be sure.
I feel as if a month is too long. There's one way I could kill someone and then four weeks later think, "Ah, I killed that guy a while ago. So he's able to shoot me without penalties... " It'd be too much hassle to check on everyone's information to see the notes you've made on them.
Maybe if you just keep it within the same day? That gives you 24 hours for revenge and I might just be able to remember who I killed that day

There's an eye for an eye tab on the character sheet on sisi which will presumably list exactly who you have active vendettas against and vice-versa. So not really a problem.

Personaly I find it strange that some seems to be against the concept of an eye for an eye. You actually don't think your victims should be able to get back at you without beeing punished? Is beeing able to get back at you without getting a sec-drop realy too much to ask for after you have poded someone?

I really don't mind if people I have blown up want to come back for a second go.
I'm rapidly heading towards -10 (currently -8.1 or something) so I'm free game anyway.
I'm not famous, nor infamous.

Heaven forfend you have to consider the consequences of your actions or be concerned you might get ganked with no warning. ;) ---- "Open the Pod Bay doors, HAL." "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that." |
