Edited by: Master Darrow on 29/11/2005 13:59:19 Battlecruisers and Heavy Assault Cruisers both seem to be trying to control the same area, heavy cruiser combat. Now my PvP experience isn't all that great, but whats makes a HAC so much better then a BC? I know they're faster, but as for shield and armor points the BC has nearly three times as much, not to mention a heavier weapons payload. One on one it looks like the BC could blast a HAC without too much trouble. In the fiew fights I've have in my BC, Hacs didn't seem that deadly. Do the bonuses a HAC get make up for the armor, sheilds, and guns of a BC?

Edited by: Zyrla Bladestorm on 29/11/2005 14:16:32 BC's (Tech I) : 2 bonuses, HAC's (Tech II) : 4 bonuses plus general tech II stats and the bonus resistances.
BC's have maybe 10-20% more base firepower for the most part, while HAC's can have say 56% more damage from bonuses, or other bonuses that otherwise make the weapons more effective.
Likewise BC's have more hitpoints but the HAC's have a lot more resistances, which reduces incoming damage.
Basically as it is on TQ and has been for some time HAC's had enough firepower to threaten big ships, while being fast and agile enough to control most battles and having enough toughness to avoid/defeat those smaller ships that might have otherwise been a threat, They were an very effective medium size option.
RMR is buffing defenses in general, BC's in specific as well as adding tech II BC's and Destroyers so HAC's will have some competition. . ----- Apologies for any rambling that may have just occurred.

BCs have more slots. More flexibility. More fitting.
You can get a better setup on a BC with solid skills than a HAC which has to squeeze and poke for every scrap of cpu/pg. With the new BC stats anyway, fitting is cake it looks like.
T2 combat BCs are going to be the new I WIN button. :) Imagine 7 t2 neutrons with 2 damage bonuses, a couple damage mods, and a tank. Arrr! bbq! -------------------------------------------- "A plan is just a list of things that don't happen." -- Parker, _The Way of the Gun_

what makes the HAC's so deadly is their resists and bonuses, down-side to them is skills you need a whole bunch of them to be able to pilot them, let alone use them well.
But you just gotta look at its role, its anti- BS, nuff sed really, but to elaborate i see it like this
AF - Anti cruiser BC - Decent against both HAC - Anti BS
I cant fly HAC's but i do fly Ferox's, one of my fav ships, but i went in against high-end rats (Named officers) the other week and got pasted badly, quickly, it simply couldnt stand the heat. I believe a HAC could, AND deliver the mother load WITHOUT breaking a sweat.
Tech II BC may prove to be anti-HAC, but we'll see i think they will be geared more towards support roles however (since the release of the gang warfare modules) i guessing a main bonus of them being the ability to use more of them, with higher bonuses. I can't see them being more advanced in terms of combat TBH.

Are the T2 BCs fast and agile enough to use short range weapons now? __________________ Retard's handbook |

Even now a well setted BC can take down HAC.
Its really all dependant on setup/range/expirience/skills and other odds that may be faced by both pilots.... -=-

Of course but thats a universal argument, and should never be applied to anything as i feel everyone should know that there are to many factors which contribute to a battle.
On paper however, a HAC will beat a BC into the dust before emptying its bladder onto it.
Take 2 pilots with identical skills, identical setups, identical everything and put one in a BC and one in a HAC and i put my nuts on it that the HAC would win.

Noticed the flaw in that arguement?

Okay okay, so you wont be able to get IDENTICAL setups, but get them as near as damnit and see what happens!!

The thing is, any BS with 2+ heavy nos is going to run the day of ANY ship class smaller than itself. I only see T2 BCs killing BSs if they aren't fitting enough nos to disable them.

Well, damage output might become a problem, but you can get obscene results using a passive tank on a Ferox..

I think the extra pg and cpu and cap make a diffence, in saying that i would lean more towards the BCII. But the Ishtar Might still kick ass veuser these with the new drones ________________________________________________

There is this thing called a Blasterthron, and the t2 BC is more agile and about as fast as one of these. And it has the slots to run a tank without a cap injector :P -------------------------------------------- "A plan is just a list of things that don't happen." -- Parker, _The Way of the Gun_

Only if they both have Battlecruisers at level 1 and HAC at level 5 . Just messing with you here, I know what you're trying to say. The situation you mentioned however is very synthetic and arranged in favor for the HAC though, so I wouldn't be surprized if it won the fight. The situation is often (perhaps the most common?) the biggest factor in who wins and who doesn't.

Edited by: Beast Rabban on 29/11/2005 16:01:26 With lvl 5 BC skill, lvl 5 gunnery and enginering Prophacy and Cyclone can match any HAC. Cyclone due to its nos and bonuses and Prophacy because it has 85% res across the board with nanos.
On Sisi the prophacy and cyclone are insane. Cyclone can run a large sheild booster II sustained with just pdu IIs and Prophacy can run 2 medium tech II reps and 4 tech II hardners sustained with 4 capac recharger II in the mid slots. Tech I BCs ended up with a serious capac advantage over HACs. Wondering if they should take a look at at least the HP and capac stats on some HACs. (sac, vaga, eagle)
