Hello! I am fairly new to the game and have recently decided to get an Assault Ship after training Frigates to L5 and am having a lot of fun messing around with it. Right now I am using the Hawk, since I am dominantly in missile skills at the moment, and have fitted it with Rockets. I also found EFT which is an awesome little tool. With some curiosity I decided to look at somewhat affordable fittings and skills for both the Harpy and Hawk. After looking at various fittings with the Hawk, I can pull off 193 DPS (even worse DPS with missiles). And playing with a Harpy I can pull off 337 DPS.
Are hybrid turrets that much superior to rockets and missiles? Is EFT wrong? Is this large gap really that noticeable in-game?
I was wondering if anyone had experience with both of them (either by flying or seen them in action). I have searched, but most of the topics centered around this seem to be before a rocket buff patch. Thanks for any information. |

As I understand it your wanna stick to Missiles until if ever they fix hybrids.
I know our boss use to fly one doing level 3 missions before moving onto cruiser type ships. It still has a place with her now I believe and she was flying one in a level 4 the other day. Amazes me how she gets away with it.
Anyway I notice you have no corp either. You could tag along with us on a few level 4's. Cryissa our corp founder has been helping out new players who are invited to join our regular level 4 ops to take out frigs and cruisers within a complex. Look us up and bring along your ship to test it's metal!

Thanks. I might look you guys up on that. Missions are definitely more fun with other players. :)

Well the harpy will have a harder time apply that damage do to tracking and range, whereas the hawk will consistenly land hits inside if its range. The hawk also gets a bonus to shield boosters, which can be nice. The harpy recieves no defensive bonus. |

Rocket Hawk is a nice little ship. It can solo Incursion scout sites if you don't mind overheating your webifier regularly. HINT: Carry nanite paste.
For PvP, imo it is still somewhat inferior to other AFs, or even EAFs. But in the right hands and/or against a poor opponent, it can be effective.
As far as the Harpy, put blasters on it. Search for Blarpy.

No, they aren't. No, it is correct.
Do these words: optimal range, faloff, tracking; missile speed and velocity, explosion speed, explosion radius say something to you? 
What is the sense of having 1000 dps at 1km, if the target is 10km away and spams missiles... |

for pve you probably should go for a hawk. Role bonuses for shield boosting = win. YOu can make it cap stable too by fitting some faction stuff on there.
