Yes, "Advanced Ammo" is now on Sisi, and I won't type here what I really think of these new additions.
Suffice to say I think it's not a good idea ....

Old Stats. HOPEFULLY placeholder.
Especially since CCP stated several times that T2 amo would NOT be a major damage increase.

Woo hoo! Explosive lasers! :D
Not sure if that makes any sense whatsoever in terms of physics, but I don't care. -----------------------------------------------

If you fire a laser that heats up the target material until it explodes from pressure rather than burning a hole through it, that'll be pretty explosive. - Proud member of the [23].

No. If the laser had better penetrating ability on say, the armor, and heated it slower than normal, yet fast enough so that it would expand rapidly...it would explode.

One of the reasons lasers have high damage is that they do 2 damage types. Give them explosive, but lower the base damage.
Esplosive lasers /me shudders! It'll be kenetic next and we minnies might as well all stick lasers on our ships...
In fact thats not a bad idea! -

Dont forget that lasers don't have to reload and can switch crystal to do explosive damage immediately without a 10 second cycle.
Just think Geddon with 7 Mega Pulse using 7 standard crystals to rip down the shields then instantly switch to explosive to take out the armour.
Ganka-Geddon just took on a whole new meaning, high RoF, high tracking and no reload doing 3 types of damage.
If that is over powered then I don't know what is. ---------

this gives me Nightmares. If Amarrians are going to be able to do explosive damage then at least give them a reload time. They constantly whine about minmatars haveing access to all damage types, but we cant change ours at the drop of a hate in battle. And they do more damage!
But im panicking, if these are placeholder stats then fine, but its a bit near RMR to still have placeholder stats :( -

There is NO Ganka-geddon in sisi.

What do you expect. This is like thread 3 or 4 about ammo stats that haven't been changed in like a year and a half. There are a lot of weird modules on sisi that will never make it to TQ, i just don't understand all the pre-whining. ________________________________________________________

Because lasers with explosive damage is scary! and im scared! and its near RMR.
Chicken Licken! Run for the hills.
EDIT: Well i suppose your right, explosive lasers with a cap penalty is just crazy, what do amarrian ships care about a cap penalty, and having explosive damage on lasers... i mean, hell, you must be right then meddy and this isnt going live....
But theres one flaw, why on earth are they on Sisi for testing if there not the correct stats? -

Wait a minute, they are on Sisi so players can comment, if we don't comment about the changes then they would get to TQ exactly the way they are on Sisi, so it has to be brought to discussion to get it changed or updated otherwise the devs will think everything is ok the way it is.
Imagine the real "whining" if this were to get to TQ with the current stats ? ---------

Nobody is testing them on SISI.
They are on the market, as are Titans, Motherships and just about everything else that is going to ship with RMR. Most of the ships still have a long way to go stats wise, i suspect the same for t2 ammo.

Edited by: Mnengli Noiliffe on 30/11/2005 11:47:15 so what? 1. they are t2, so they only work in t2 guns. 2. they are t2, so they will probably expire like mining crystals do. 2. they are t2, that means they will cost loads of iskies. Remember that t2 cap recharger?

Very good point i missed. Most of the RMR setups i've seen have resists pretty equal across the board. Realistically i would the higher damage tech 2 crystal rather then explosive.
The only real time i think i would use it would be against tech 2 minmaturds. ________________________________________________________

Obviously you haven't been on tranquility. You now can swap it in all guns at once iirc..
oh, still doesnt look overpowered to you? perhaps thats because you will profit off it.
