Ive just got round to fitting out one of my ships,i checked the forums for fittings to get an idea of what to fit, weapons wise.i notice all say tech II rails 125 or 150 so i begin my skill training,im pretty new to this game so forgive me if i have this wrong and kindly correct me.but imo looking at the stats, the 125/150 proto's are identical to a 125/150 rail II apart from the proto's use a little less cpu and less activation cost.wouldnt the proto's be a better option.i will still train all the small hybrid turrets as i want to reach specialisation but surely a tech II rail should out perform a tech I.

The specialisation skills (small rail secialisation skill to be exact), only apply to tech2 turrets.
It gives you 2% per level extra damage.
On top of that the future t2 ammo can only be usedwith tech 2 turrets _______________________________________________

Edited by: Sarmaul on 30/11/2005 12:14:27 is it me or are more and more people beginning to think this is the Ships & Mods forum?
as for your answer, T2 guns have the same stats as the best T1 but are harder to fit and get 2% extra damage per level of the specialization skill.
edit: 60 seconds too late

Edited by: throbbinnoggin on 30/11/2005 12:23:10 T2 have higher fitting reqs than t1 and use the same capacitor per shot, but the small rail spec skill gives you an additional 2% damage per lvl so they will outdamage t1 protos. At lvl4 thats 8% more, which you will notice. Also t2 are cheaper and easier to find than protos.
edit: damn i'm slow...only forum ***** lvl1
