Ok, so I came up with this last night and though it would make an extremely useful feature. Perhaps its been considered before, perhaps not, but here goes:
Lets say you have a Covert Ops pilot in your gang, sitting outside a station where an enemy fleet is deployed around it. Now under normal cirumstances when trying to engage your enemy, you rely on your Covert Ops pilot to relay information to you verbally about positions and such. This can be slow and subject to pilot error of course.
So how about a tactical uplink to the Gang Leader? What I mean is, lets say the Covert Ops pilot turns on his tactical overview on. If this pilot were in a gang, the Gang Leader would then be able to see - via a 2 or 3D map on the scanner or some other window perhaps - exactly what the Covert Ops pilot sees though instead of just rendering what he sees, you can just have boxes, numbers and other simple graphisc to represent the situation. This would then allow the Commander of the fleet to see the tactical situation for him or herself fully and make a call based on that information.
I thought it was quite good. I'd appreicate a Devs response to this idea, if it was doable or not.
If I'm not explaining myself well enough, I can try again ;)

purhapse just a simple transfer of scanner data from one character to another. But only from a cloaked covert ops pilots in gang to the gang leader. But then again its just as easy to verbally do that, thats the job of the scout.

Its a great idea , and i don't care how hard it is to implement , its an excellent feature, really making the squadron leader feel like he's in command rather than just giving the orders.

bandwidth intensive though....
how about being able to check range between targets in tactical view.
At the mo you see the concentric circles of range.
Would be nice to switch teh focus of these lines, so a covops could just look and say target if 100 km from me, 30km from station and 20 km from teh rest of teh fleet.
