Petition, send a record of the teamspeak logs, and let's get them banned.
It's not allowed by CCP.

I haven't been long in this corp we have a teamspeak server up and I've been listening to my corp buddies over the last month saying the only way to catch up to the vet's is too ebay isk, this is my first MMORPG is this normal ? Most off the corp are in battleships which are like 100mil and have been playing the same amount of time as me and I'm in a MOA and are taking the pi** saying why havent I ebayed yet , Is this widely accepted that new players have to ebay to catch up , my corp have the attuide that you pay a monthly fee so why not pay for isk.
It just seem's so wrong to me and pointless playing the game, I guess I should leave and find another corp I dunno

It's also totally, totally unneccessary. You don't need to ebay at all to catch up. The filesize of your signature is too big, maximum filesize is 24000bytes - Eshtir ([email protected])
Alas! My sig was too big. |

If you need to buy isk for money to get into a ship you have no clue about this game. Everyone can earn isk quite easy in this game - it just takes some effort. Your corp mates are either damn lazy or just noobs. It's a bannable offense against CCP rules btw so don't even think about doing it.
You should switch corp btw.

People here seem to be replying as if the OP's corp was selling ISK, which apparently they aren't -- they're only buying ISK. Is buying ISK also forbidden by CCP?

I've met at least two people I could have petitioned for admitting to have bought ISK and Implants. The guy who bought ISK promised us never to do it again (he was in a corp I used to be in). The guy with the implants was complaining, because he paid quite alot for a full set of +3 implants with real currency (money that could have paid for at least half a year's subscription), and then he got podded. I laughed all night long about that, karma coming right back at you. I can't remember their names today though.

Trading in ingame items for real USD is illegal by the rules of the EULA, be that buying/selling isk, items, ships or characters. _______________________________________________________

I can't believe people are being so irresponsible, potentially getting their own corpmates into trouble by implying that cheating is OK. Get out of that corp, they are clearly selfish and do not care about you.

Edited by: Quanteeri on 01/12/2005 21:15:38 Edited by: Quanteeri on 01/12/2005 21:13:08 I believe that I read a devBlog once that stated something along the lines that CCP had banned a bunch of people for Ebaying ISK. From the description, it sounded like they followed the cash paths as far as they could and zotzed every alone the line. It's possible that if you recieve cash from these lamers, that you, too, in turn could be banned, and tagged as an eBayer.
I'm not fully positive about this, but it's definitely what I would do if I were them. Since they have no idea how far the money laundering really goes.
Plus, like others have stated, it's unnecessary. I'd jump ship quick like. Don't know about the narcing part, but I'd definitely jump ship.
I'd rather CCP concentrate on distinguishing the source of the ebaying than punishing lameasses that actually buy from eBay. :) |

Or maybe just realize that all your monthly fee grants you is the priveledge to access CCP's servers and play in their sandbox; nothing more. "ISK" is just game code that doesn't belong to you. It belongs to CCP and thus buying/selling isk or any other portion of game coding on ebay is copyright infringement. Digital information is still information which is still protected under intellecutal property laws last I looked.

Hmmm. I was poor for ages when i started this game
Guy i know been playing about 2 months now, spent most of that time training learning skills... so cos he couldnt do much he started trading stuff.... He has plenty of money as a result he's even started piling stuff up for when he can use it.
...or if that doesnt float your boat you go go pirate and ransom people for cash, suicide-gank expensively filled haulers in 'safe' space, you could join a 0.0 corp and go mine rare ore, or you could even steal some poor corps stuff, all of which are ways to make good money by actually playing the game
Sounds to me like your current corp is just a bunch of *insertnastywordhere*
Find a better corp.

To be honest this isnt a problem for me. Flying a BS with about the same amount of skill points (SP) as you, say 2M, will only tend to lose it faster. Popping RL ISKs, I mean cash over a few mins is a bit folly to me. I have about 5M SP and I only fly a Moa
Maybe I am cheapskate or just broke.
PS: Dont feel bad if somebody got a bigger ship than you (e.g. your corpmates), I doubt they can really know how to use it well. ----------------

Yes, though the sellers seem to be hated rather more due to them often being macro miners, who screw things up in-game on a bigger scale than the buyers, who just get a quick cash injection.
That said, isk<-->real world currency is a total no-no unless you have the time card as a middle-man.

I've been playing for 2 months mostly solo (Yes, I'm still in the newb corp, and no I'm not a macro miner) and have over 250M, not including assets or what I spent on implants (100M plugged into my poor head). I have about 2.7M in SPs, most of which is in learning.
I rarely play more than 2-3 hours a day. You DON'T need to buy ISK to 'catch up'. You just need to play smart and not over extend yourself. I COULD buy a BS, but why would I want to, I'm not ready for that just yet.
P.S. no recruiting posts here please, if you are, feel free to convo me.

And TBH, the time card crap should be banned too. Though it does help out those who have no jobs/life and play Eve all day everyday... but I still see it as an exploit of sorts. Buuuut CCP makes the rules on that so I won't really whine about it. ************************************************

Case in point. Mr. Reevus has about 200M more in his account than my normal average, plus implants. I've been in game nearly a year and a half and have 20mil SP. :) |

Some of this has already been said, sorry.
No, you don't need to buy ISK through eBay or IGN. You should get your corp to do mining ops as often as possible. With some dedication, you can get enough to build a battleship on a regular basis (atleast bi-weekly). If you all hate to mine, then find complexes or nice low security systems and hunt big mobs. As a group, you can make money.
Several moderate to large corps give T1 cruisers and smaller to members for free. I just mention this as a means of comparision.
What are you going to do with a battleship? If you are in a corp war, then yes, you guys need to get *****ing on some firepower (and don't ever underestimate the importance of frigates or cruisers in PvP). If you are solely focused on PvE, well... hunting mob A in cruiser is the same has hunting bigger mob B in a battleship. Your game play is the same.
If you are hunting mobs with your battleship-piloting corp mates, don't underestimate the importance of frigates and cruisers in PvE. Aside from logistics/support roles, BSes can sometimes find themselves with weapons too big and slow to target fast tackling frigate mobs. This is why god... err... CCP, made cruisers.
