Edited by: Da5id on 12/08/2003 20:29:10 (Aside: I think this is relevant to market forum so I posted here. If mods thing it belongs in general my apologies for incorrect forum!)
I'm curious why so many people do not post prices. The only benefit I see to not posting prices is that one can hope to get the customer into buying one's own goods when someone else might be selling for less elsewhere.
However, it seems to me there is upside that we, as sellers, are missing out on, specifically:
* If we all post prices, we all will know immediately if our prices are too high, or more importantly, too low. If I where to see everybody else posting Armageddons at 80mil, I'd know my prices are too low, for instance :)
* We will waste less time playing games with customers. It is a lot nicer to just get a "hi I'm omw with the isk" message than playing tag with a potential customer, wondering if your competition is beating you out or not
* Finally, we won't be acting like sleazy used car salesmen, who won't ever quote a price in public. Let's behave like open, honest businessmen and just put our prices up for all to see!
Obviously, this will benefit out customers too, both in that they will be able to make informed buy decisions as well as in terms of convenience - the customers will know who is selling what at what price, and in what region (we should post that too btw!), immediately rather than having to evemail/convo every single one of us.
I'd be curious to hear what my fellow producers as well as esteemed customers think on this topic

I personnally think that the reason you do not see that manny people posting there prices, is bacuse this used to be common place. Until your compeditor comes alone and offers if for a bit and and so on and so on. That is why the market is in the ****TER IMHO.
You can still get the best deal if you are a consumer. But you have to do your research. I like. Let people figure out what they want. Instead of gving them everything on a gold platter.

As a consumer and producer, I agree with you.
I think many producers are afraid of other producers hijacking their threads with lower prices. Like if someone says he sells Arma for 80 mill, then another person might answer the thread saying that he can give it for 78 mill. Surely, it is only competition, but in our real world, advertisments don't get hijacked by the competitors. --- ...I came to realize the obviousness of the truth. What is EVE? Control. EVE is a computer generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into a beta tester. |

I always do, but for looted items the price changes sometimes by the hour, so I can understand why people don't. I try to post the fairest prices but as the previous poster says - someone will say your prices are crap.
NB - this isn't really a "market" forum, it's more of a "non-market" forum, with the exception of those selling/buying BS and people trying to get rid of loads of mins.

They are "cleverly" attempting to haggle and get higher prices from those they can.
Time honored bazar stuff. (shrug)

prices are not posted b/c peps want a higer price, and from time to time they will get the price they wanted and more. So, If I posted say one Lead bullet for 2 isk, somone will price it lower. But if I dont post it, I am not willing to go below 2 isk, but I get a guy that refuse to pay below 3 isk vs the one that want to pay 2isk.
So, your answer is peps dont post price b/c they are hoping for more than less.

I don't tend to bother if the price isn't posted. I can't be bothered playing 'tag' as you said during my eve time. so unless it's something i really want if the price isn't there, they won't get my custom and i'll buy of someone who does post a price (yes i know it could be higher) ------------------------------------------------------------

good thing to consider as most of my sells are based on % of manufacture cost. And flucuate a little depening on region area. But the hijacking is a problem.

I don't quote prices that often because they do fluctuate a lot....even in the course of a day. If u play in the morning (game time) u find it is not as easy to sell at high prices than it is at night. By 23:00 game time u have 5-6000 people online sometimes compared with 2000 in the morning, the demand is greater and I would alter prices accordingly. ALthough I am lazy and tend to just quote the same price all day . As it happens WTS: 20 photonic CPU Enhancers (27.2% boost to cpu) for 17.25mill isk
